Perfect food for our reception
All of our guests raved about the food at our reception! We loved every bite and were so happy we planned enough for leftovers. Alan was extremely responsive and professional. Would strongly recommend for any catering needs!! Some of our guests also stayed at the Lafayette Inn and has nothing but good things to say about their rooms and hospitality. All of our guests raved about the food at our reception! We had our bridal lunch at the Lafayette Inn as well as some out of town guests staying there. The lunch was beautiful and we were in our private room and the food was AMAZING! It was the perfect place before our wedding at Lydia Mountain! We had our bridal lunch at the Lafayette Inn as well as some out of town guests staying there. We reserved the whole inn for my daughter's wedding in April and had a wonderful stay. The rooms are lovely and the breakfast was wonderful. There is a little bit of street noise, but that did not interfere with sleeping. We would stay again. We reserved the whole inn for my daughter's wedding in April and had a wonderful stay. The Lafayette Inn is a beautiful historic B&B surrounded by gorgeous grounds and located in the heart of a very small town. The Inn offers gourmet dining and a warm elegant atmosphere. The Innkeepers also offer wedding packages where they will coordinate your event with local vendors to provide photography, flowers, music, transportation, the officiant, and even wine-tasting tours for guests. With only 4 months to plan my wedding I was very happy to find Alan and the staff at The Lafayette. Everything was beautiful and our wedding data was magical! I still have guests telling me about how much they loved the food. The Lafayette Inn is a beautiful historic B&B surrounded by gorgeous grounds and located in the heart of a very small town. I loved the Lafayette Inn as an intimate setting for our rehearsal dinner. We had a private room for 50 guests and had the outside patio and garden for the cocktail hour. My only complaint is that they use a little too much butter in some of their dishes. It can sometimes be a bit too rich. Other than that, we were completely satisfied.I loved the Lafayette Inn as an intimate setting for our rehearsal dinner. We were pleased with Alan's service until the night of the event. He is very communicative over several months of the planning process. His pricing is reasonable. And frankly, his food is excellent. All of our guests raved about it.
However, we were appalled by his inability to follow through with the agreed upon plans. He agreed to provide a wait staff for our buffet dinner to serve the food, bus the tables, then cut and serve the cake. This service he provided was not what we had previously discussed, and furthermore, he seemed unable to work with our reception coordinator.
When it was time to bus the tables after the meal, he asked our coordinator to ask our guests to get out of their seats and leave the area so his staff could bus the tables. He never indicated during our planning that it was necessary for our guests to leave the tables. Since it was raining outside and the dinner was moved inside according to our rain plan, expecting guests to move was unreasonable. The coordinator asked him to bus the tables while everyone was seated. He would not.
The dirty plates remained piled on the table until he decided enough of the guests were milling around that he could order his staff to collect them. This flustered our coordinator who consequently brought this problem to us as we were visiting with our guests. By this time, our reception was more than 45 minutes behind schedule. Alan and his staff then insisted on delaying the cake cutting because the tables were not completely bused.
Under time pressure, we made the decision to start the ceremonial cutting, expecting Alan would take the cue and free up his staff to serve it while speeches were being made. This was the plan we agreed on, but he did no such thing. Our coordinator cut and served the cake with the help of some of our guests (!!) and Alan sent one member of his staff after nearly everyone had been served. We were pleased with Alan's service until the night of the event.
