Engag. Session: No contact made b/w the day of meeting Kim (5/22) when I gave her $600, until I called HER on 8/1, the day of our engag. session. I called her 4 hours prior to our session start, to CONFIRM WITH HER, if we were still on. She had made no attempt to even get our address. A confirmation the week before would have been appropriate, for a pro photographer. IMO: 1) she shows up the day of my wedding, asking me for the rest of her $ w/in the first ten minutes of her arrival. She didn’t get the DVD to me of our engagement session until 9/9/13. We got married 9/11. I told her I would pay the rest of the money the day of. I wasn’t about to pay her the rest of her money without even having the DVD. Didn’t think of this…NEVER SIGN A CONTRACT WHEN THE PHOTOG. WANTS TO BE PIF BEFORE YOU EVEN GET THE DVD OF YOUR PIX from your wedding day! For her to take 2 mos. to get me the wedding pix, was entirely too long. She says she edits pix- DON’T be fooled by this. Editing does not mean photo shopping, which I would understand would take some time. Shadows in some really good shots that a pro would not have had, and even better, asst. in the BG of first look shots of my face, and she in the BG of his face. She asked for a list of shots, I got her a list the day of. The web saiddon’t dumb down the photog with listing family shots. ADD THEM. Our 1 shot of everyone, my MIL is missing. She merely went to bathroom. The assistant could have gotten my MIL. She didn’t assist. Easy shots, ppl at the tables…none. I don’t see ¾ of my guests in my pix, and even tho there was a shot list- she missed our Thank You shot, which had to be taken by my sister’s cell. Had to doctor that one up, in order to send it out to everyone. Bottom line: GET AN AGGRESSIVE photog that will take charge, suggest ppl move closer for photos. When I expressed my concern after the fact, all of a sudden, she was too busy to talk on the phone. Email was it. Worst $1700 ever spent.

    Kim Joyce Photography's reply:

I am very sorry this bride was not satisfied! Her engagement and wedding images came back beautiful and I very much stand behind my work and policies which are clearly stated on the contact that was signed. I have a wonderful reputation with every other bride that I have worked with! The editing she was asking for went far beyond my policies. Thing like changing the shape and/or size of her eyes. My contract clearly stated the balance for your wedding is due one week BEFORE your wedding and that due date came and went for this bride and it was not paid. I of course still showed up and was very professional but had to ask her on her wedding day for the payment. This is why I have this policy, so my brides don't have to worry about this on their wedding day! I still tried to go beyond my editing policies to please her, and that took additional time to get her images back. I tired my best to stick to the list she gave me for the family shots, but she took over, I try and do my job, but am not about to run into any conflict with the bride. This is HER day. I asked her repeatedly if she wanted to stick to the list, and she still took over. We love the couples we work with, and this bride even gave me a hug thanking me for everything that day when we left. I was shocked when I saw this review. Very disappointed!
