My husband and I had our wedding at the Inn and Spa at Loretto on 12/31/15. Everything was SPECTACULAR. As we had a NYE wedding and expected guests to have the longevity to celebrate into the new year, we opted to have a later than normal ceremony. We were married at 8pm. As such we chose to do heavy hors d'oeuvres and two late night food bars. I, personally, had never been to a wedding that didn't do a seated dinner and wasn't sure exactly how that would work logistically. Their Events Services Manager, Lesley Escobar, not only completely understood my vision but helped to facilitate every single details. She even made suggestions to add a large puff pastry wrapped baked brie and made suggestions as to how to facilitate both seating and high top tables for a lounge-y NYE feel. Lesley was extremely easy to get in touch with throughout the 8 months of planning. We chose to have our rehearsal dinner here as well and the Chef made a personalized dish based on my request for an upscale, modern twist on traditional New Mexican food. We had pinon encrusted pork chops and red chile pesto chicken that was out of this world. The Plaza on NYE was packed as you can imagine but they waived the typical valet fee and provided affordable room rates for the guests. I could go on and on about our experience but bottom line is that the venue is gorgeous- in fact it was rated 2nd best hotel in ALL of the Southwest and best hotel in New Mexico by Conde Nast Traveler this year. We got married during the winter which not only made it cheaper, but allowed us to have photos with New Mexico's gorgeous luminaria/farolitos. Lesley absolutely made the experience what it was. I experienced 0 stress the day of the wedding because I felt so confident in the work Lesley had put in on the front end. I highly highly recommend this venue.

Everything that weekend was awesome. Our guest loved the hospitality. We loved the quality of service we got all around. The only mishap was that the leftover wedding cake (not the top tier) was dropped the day after the event and couldn't be salvaged but we are getting a certificate for their restaurant

The Loretto was GORGEOUS! Perfect setting for our wedding! The staff was excellent and Vickie, Jen, Ludwig and Josephine were wonderful! It was a beautiful hotel and I'm so glad that our wedding was there! I loved it!

The Loretto Inn was the perfect spot for our wedding reception! Caroline was great from the beginning, through our initial phone calls and emails she was always prompt and would have an answer to any question. When I met with Caroline to go over everything for the reception-she was a true delight! She assured me her and her staff would take care of everything and it would all be exactly what I wanted!
It was!! Everyone who was involved in the reception was fantastic!! From Caroline fequently checking the during the reception if everything was going ok, the banquet captain checking if there was anything we needed, and the servers!!! They were all amazing!! The most important thing-the food! It was AMAZING!! Every course just kept getting better and better! Everyone still can't stop raving abut how delicious the food was-from the hors d'oeuvres to the main course-it was all AMAZING!!!
Even our signature drink we had for the evening- "prickly pear margarita"-everyone couldn't get enough of!
I would highly recommend the Loretto Inn for your wedding reception needs!!!
Thanks to all the staff at the Loretto,
    Mrs. Rose C. DeLuna-Kramer

Great location and incredibly friendly staff. My husband and I had our wedding here on the Sunset Terrace and the reception in the Tesuque Ballroom.

Things that could have gone better:

#1- Rooms were beautiful but old, I was getting ready (wedding day) in our suite but if you tried to use a blow dryer and ANYTHING else, the power would go out.
#2 - AVOID the sunset terrace for your ceremony, $600 worth of flowers were destroyed by the wind and the DJ had major technical issues getting set up out there which delayed our ceremony 20 min, at which point it was on the verge of raining... no good.
#3 - The Tesuque ballroom was beautiful! I only wish the staff had done a better job with coordinating the lighting, they left the chandelier on low and the surrounding lights on high, we repeatedly had to ask them to change it which they failed to do.
#4 - The chocolate fountain was SO LOUD!, one of my guests had the good sense to get up an turn it off during speeches.

    Things that went well:
#1- Lesley was incredible, she obviously has a passion for what she does and it really shows in her work. She went above a beyond and deserves whatever they pay her and more. If it weren't for her, I'd have canceled the contracts, paid whatever I had to and gone somewhere else.
#2- The massage I got at the spa was OUT OF THIS WORLD good. Well worth it and I recommend anyone to go, at least once.
#3- Unbeatable location and super artsy feel. The look of the place was incredible and it was a great vibe for us and our guests.

Overall it was "ok+", food was not great (for the price) and coordination needs work. If you're paying top dollar (which we did) you expect more. Also, they failed to tell me until after we signed that there was another wedding/reception the same day (see Viviana R's review), not that it caused much of a problem, but it would have been good to know.

    Chaotic Venue

We picked the Inn due to its proximity to the wonderful Loretto Chapel. But Pick and DIFFERENT hotel for this please. They are having staff and hiring problems. We were tossed around 4 times to different planers. The first 2 quit Loretto. We ended up with the corporate planner is Albuquerque and the day before our wedding she canceled coming via email, not even a phone call, so we then were given the onsite NEW hire at the Loretto. The food is great, but don't use this place until they get their act together. It was stressful in the planning phase at best. Plus they are behind in some massive renovation work to their grounds and pool. Poor choice for now.

Document everything that is said, have a wedding planner review the contract before signing the line.

MAKE SURE YOU SAVE ALL COMMUNICATIONS !!! Spoke to a wedding agent, she pulled strings to accommodate the small wedding.. We asked if we could take our engagement photos as the location, the agent penciled us in. I was excited. I hired a photographer to meet us there. I had Agent called to the front; we were all dolled up to get taken to the areas that had great lightening and great backgrounds and the variety of fireplaces that she talked to us about.
She greeted us in the front, rather shy, and pointed out the Christmas tree in the lobby, the fireplace behind it, then she told my photographer that the hall ways were nice as well.
Nothing at all like we expected. Agent did not give any tips or show us around anywhere else, she informed me that she would show us the areas where people were getting married and that didn't help. That experience was dreadful. We lost out on money and an entire day! She emailed me a BLANK contract and had my groom and I sign the papers in front of her and in good faith we didn't mind. She DID NOT sign them, instead she took the papers and said she would email the final papers to me on the day the payment was processed which we authorized Dec 19th. TWO WEEKS later still no payment processed and no signed contract from the agent... we cancelled on Jan 2nd and that day the money was pulled and she provided signed contract!!!!! BAD BUSINESS! We informed her that we didn't want the spot because they failed to pull money and failed to provided final documents. She said that could not be done because we still owed 2,500.00!!!! AGENT REP DID NOT UPHOLD HER END AND DECIDED THIS IS NOT HER PROBLEM. THIS VENUE IS THE WORST. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS UNLESS YOU LIKE TO MAKE THE FIRST MOVE AND KEEP BUGGING FOR 2 WEEKS STRAIGHT AND FIND OUT THAT THEY WON'T GIVE THE DEPOSIT BACK AND NOW YOU ARE TOLD THAT THE CORP TEAM WOULD MAKE THE CHOICE TO REFUND. IT WAS THE AGENTS FAULT FOR LOSING THIS SALE AND SHE SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE! VERY BAD!
