  Elopement at Hotel Californian

  I switched my elopement to Hotel Californian three days before our event! Originally, we were supposed to be married outdoors in a private ceremony at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse. However, after watching the weather for 10 days, it was getting colder and wetter during our ceremony time. Since we were already staying at the hotel for our elopement weekend, I decided to give it a shot and ask if they had any availability indoors. Samantha Brown was excellent at answering all of my questions and crazy phone calls. I was in total panic mode and she was very responsive and professional. Due to county guidelines at the time, we were able to move my small ceremony (less than 15 people) into the Alhambra Ballroom. It was absolutely beautiful and hardly needed any decor - it was that gorgeous by itself! As a COVID bride, I had to pivot a million times to keep my wedding date. I cannot thank the hardworking sales team enough for being so easy to work with. It was a dream come true!

  Best decision we've ever made!!!

  We searched high and low through the state for the perfect California Wedding venue. When we landed on Hotel Californian it was truly a dream come true. From the aesthetics to the service it was absolutely second to none! If we could do it all over again we would absolutely choose Hotel Californian again.

  Great Experience Thus Far

  So far I have had a great experience with the Hotel Californian. Samantha (my sales contact) has been very responsive, even during the busy wedding season, and is very quick to answer questions and address concerns. The space is beautiful. I will be using the rooftop, courtyard and ballroom and all 3 are great spaces. Rooms are very nice and I am very excited to have my wedding here. I would say pricing may be a bit high, but its Santa Barbara so that can be expected.

  Would Not Recommend

  Honestly I would not recommend the Californian. They were slow to respond to everything (1-2 WEEKS minimum before we got a response for any questions), they nickel and dime you for every little item that should just be included in the cost, and they really just make you feel like a burden for having your event there. The level of service was really not commensurate with the cost. Every person I worked with on their team was sub-par and made my husband and I feel like we were idiots for asking for common things we have seen at other weddings. I started just calling the front desk of the hotel when I had a question (maybe 12 calls over the course of 1 year) and it was like pulling out my fingernails each time.
