We looked into several yacht companies and decided on Charter Yachts because they are a family operation with much more personal service. We were treated like their most important customer throughout the process, not like just another invoice to be handled. Our coordiinator, Ariel, was great. My review of "Charter Yachts of Newport Beach" begins with the initial email I sent requesting information. No sooner had I sent the message when my phone rang. It was Ariel Janikowski, an event planner with the company who would go on to become our single source of contact. We were not from the area or even the Country and needed to rely on Ariel to help us. After a detailed conversation, she described a perfect graduation outing for our daughter with family and friends. She suggested a beautiful yacht that was affordable and suitable for our group, casual and interesting catering and even some fun cupcakes that contained a little something special for the celebratory occasion. Ariel even suggested hotels in the area and some great places for us to continue our celebrating after our 3 hours cruise. Our plans were thoughtfully put together and confirmed at each and every step and we felt completely comfortable and confident. I'll be honest, my expectations in general and in particular for my daughters special day were set very high, I wanted it to be perfect and the greatest surprise was that it was. Charter Yachts provided me and my family and friends a beautiful venue for a double burial at sea. Ariel in the office was excellent in guiding me through logistics; the crew aboard the ICON was terrific. All were very professional and friendly. If I could give 10 stars, I would. Although there were only 18 of us at the memorial service and the ICON can hold 150, it wasn't too large for our event. Everyone had enough space and time to reflect and remember. After researching yacht places in Newport Beach, Charter Yachts of Newport Beach is by far the best of them all, considering pricing, quality of food and outstanding customer service. From the moment I stepped into their offices, I was greeted with a sincere warm welcome. Ariel came across to me as an active listener, professional and customer-focus driven. With very intricate details regarding the corporate event I was planning, she executed my plan the best way she could. I was surely impressed. What stand out the most about Ariel was that she was extremely responsive via email, phone and text. That helped me so much due to so many last minute changes I had to make. The employees and more importantly the managers were very pleased with the presentation of the yacht, food and the outstanding customer service that was provided on the yacht. We began searching for a wedding venue six months before our wedding. We wanted to make the experience as memorable for our guests as it would be for us, and what better than a yacht. We previewed several yachts, but none of them compared to the Icon. Beautiful; Classy; Elegant; and very clean. We dropped off guest favors the day before the wedding and could see a crew cleaning her up. You would almost swear that she is brand new. The other yachts in the area did not even compare.
CYNB made it so easy and stress free for us. We could not have been more impressed with all of their services and recommendations. Everyone from the wedding coordinator, the chef, the DJ, the photographer, the flower vendor, the cake vendor, the servers, the bartenders; all went above and beyond great customer service.
A very special thank you to the coordinator Penny. She was amazing. Everything was perfect and went according to schedule. And a very special thank you to the Captain and the crew. Thank you for making our day so special, happy, fun, and the most memorable experience of our lives. We will always treasure that day in our hearts forever. And thank you for making it not only a memorable experience for us, but also for our guests. They are still talking about it.
We could go on and on about the day, but apparently there is a limit to the length of a review posting.
We would like to finish by saying…for anyone who is still searching for a wedding venue, we highly, highly, highly recommend Charter Yachts of Newport Beach. They way exceeded our expectations. And if you don't have your wedding aboard the Icon, you will be missing out.

The day of the wedding, Leslie was completely hands-on. When we could not make our rounds to everyone, she was attentive to all our guests. She remained calm, cool and collected transferring her zen vibes to me.
The reception was set up just as I envisioned. Leslie and staff did a beautiful job.
KIP: Kip is an awesome photographer! He is down-to-earth and makes you feel comfortable with taking photos. We absolutely LOVED the candid shots!
DJ DANIEL: We opted for an additional hour thinking four (4) hours was not enough to dance the night away; however, we surprisingly had a tough and obviously tired crowd! I found myself glued to the dance floor determined to justify paying for the extra hour. Though we had a great time, there was more lull than I cared for and Daniel made every effort to jump start the rest of the guests. He was interactive with the guests; he was fun.
CATERING/BAR: After nearly three months after the wedding, guests continue to rave about the food and top shelf bar!
BAKERY: The cake was beautiful and absolutely delicious!

The Icon is amazing and so is everyone at Charter Yachts of Newport Beach especially Leslie Weilenga! Leslie was my wedding coordinator and she is very outgoing and it's very obvious that she is passionate about weddings. We decided to have our wedding aboard the Icon after looking at multiple locations including wineries, golf courses and bed and breakfast venues and I'm so happy we did. Leslie made everything so easy for me! She was very responsive every time I e-mailed or called! She also was very good about following up with me to make sure I was on track with everything I needed. The wedding day went so smooth and amazingly I wasn't stressed about anything because I knew if anything did come up that Leslie would take care of it! The caterer for the Icon is awesome!!! All I can say is if you are looking for an amazing experience for your wedding day and for your guests you should definitely book your wedding aboard the icon! The food is so delicious the staff is great and it's a perfect location to get beautiful wedding photos!

I am a wedding coordinator myself so it was such a treat to have everything done so professionally for me. I was so relaxed on the day of my wedding and really got to enjoy every moment of it! The boat was decorated beautifully and so classy! We explained our visions to Penny and she made sure they came true! Everything exceeded our expectations which were really high!
My husband and I continue to keep hearing from guests that it was the most unique and wonderful wedding they have even been to. People can't stop talking about it and claim it is a wedding that can't be topped (not that that is what we wanted...but it is nice to hear). Everything was so classy and professional...and the yacht itself is absolutely stunning! I cannot say enough about Penny and her amazing crew. From beginning to end, they treated us like we were the only wedding they were planning. From the first email I shared with Penny when we first thought of this company to the farewell email we shared....everything was so clear, concise and organized! As a wedding coordinator you would think I would have something critical to say....but I can't....everything was perfect!!!!
The vendors Penny uses are also the BEST! The food, cake, flowers, and photographer that she recommended were top notch! The food....AMAZING! We are all still talking about it! The cake was everything we wanted it to be and more. It was decorated perfectly and it was truly delicious! The flowers were perfect and I described my wants all over email.....perfect!!!! The DJ was really sweet and accommodating! Everything was just wonderful!
We planned this entire wedding mostly through emails and one fun visit to California, and everything not only met but exceeded out expectations!!! Brides that don't want to be a total stress bucket about details on their wedding day...this is the route to go!! It was fun to plan...and since my husband and I are so busy with work we really didn't have the time to plan a wedding of this caliber on our own! I work with Brides all the time and they are usually so stressed...I cannot emphasize enough how low stress this entire process was for us....much thanks to Penny and the Icon crew! Pre-wedding planning was a breeze but the day of our wedding was even easier.... On the day of, everything was taken care of so we could just show up, relax, and enjoy with no worries of the details of the day! I don't know what I would have done if I had to think about what time to do the toast or sit down for dinner....the crew was right there guiding me through the day! It went so smoothly and was SO NICE!!!! We are already planning on coming back for our 10 year vow renewal! CAN'T WAIT!!!! See you on 10.10.20 :-)

My fiancée and I had decided we wanted to get married somewhere by the water. We spent a few months looking at beach locations that would meet our expectations both in scenery and price. Our last and final stop was the ICON at Charter Yachts. My fiancée knew as soon as I walked in that this was the place. Penny Goodin was our wedding consultant. She is extremely professional, accommodating, and efficient and was very sweet through the entire process. She offered some great suggestions and was very flexible with my suggestions. She made everything so easy! I knew that I was in good hands and was not in the least bit nervous on my wedding day. My husband and I think back now and still can’t believe how beautiful everything was done. The tables, flowers, cake and overall décor was perfect. I received so many compliments on how classy everything was done and how well everything flowed. We had the ceremony and reception on the yacht, and it’s just amazing how they were able to seamlessly set everything up with such precision. The food and drinks were also fabulous. I did check other yachts before settling on this one. I can tell you that the overall feel, intimacy and professionalism they provided were bar none. The other yachts were more commercialized. If you are looking for an intimate and classy wedding with beautiful scenery; if you are looking for professionals that know what they are doing; if you are looking for efficiency and organization…..You have to check them out! From the husband: Guys, go with Penny and the Icon! The whole experience still feels unreal. I mean, I can’t remember a time in my life when it was so important, yet I felt so lost, the process was so painless and everything turned out so great. With wedding planning you are going to feel lost anyway. So, you need two people to trust – your fiancée and her consultant. Penny you can trust 100%. And the yacht, the harbor… just go check them out and you’ll see it can’t get better than that.

They were very efficient and timely as well as flexible with leaving time on the dock. They arranged the cake, music, decorations, etc. The only complaint I had that showed in my pictures is they should cover the area where the cake table is...you could see all the storage crates in the background........other then that, the evening on Newport Harbor was wonderful. The only other thing I would change is the DJ didnt really play my favorite songs when we were dancing so I would try to coordinate that a little better....but the food is AMAZING on this yacht! From the very first meeting with Leslie, an event planner for Charter Yachts, I knew this was the best choice for our wedding venue. Leslie made it so easy, providing us with recommended vendors who were familiar with the yacht, answering numerous questions, suggesting great ideas, and providing us with a detailed checklist to follow. We had four months to plan the wedding, and Leslie helped to make it happen. Leslie was with us right up to the end of the wedding/reception, directing us and remembering every small detail. She was so organized, and it made it possible for us to really enjoy the evening. We had so much fun, and our guests all commented on our ceremony, the venue, and how smoothly the evening went. The Icon is a lovely yacht, and well maintained. Chef David prepared the most fabulous food too, and we received several positive comments about our meal and appetizers. So last Saturday, my fiancé and I hosted our engagement party aboard the ICON yacht. And let me tell you, it was nothing short than amazing! It exceeded all of our expectation in every way. From the picturesque water / boat views. To the excellent staff. To the delicious food. And last but not least.... Leslie. If you are fortunate enough to work with Leslie as your coordinator... let me tell you how much better your special day will be. Not only does she go above and beyond to make you happy and ensures everything runs smooth on the day, she has the most amazing personality to top it off! We loved working with her. She was very detailed oriented and organized. It took off so much stress for us, and made that day much more enjoyable in the process. I can't say enough good things about our experience on the ICON. We were blown away, and all of our guests are now jealous of how awesome it was, and are going to book their parties on the ICON too :)
There will always be some cons, and things that don't go perfectly, but those were minimal. One gripe we had, was that the captain of the boat was very stern when greeting the guests. Which we understood why, there are a lot of safety precautions when boarding a board, we understood that. But they quickly locked him up in the captains room, and we didn't see him again. Otherwise everything else was very minor, and so insignificant to all the greater things. I would have given a 4 star, but Leslie got so many bonus stars for how awesome she was, its way beyond the 5 star! Thank you Leslie and the ICON yacht for providing us with such a memorable experience! One that we will always cherish and remember :)

I just wanted to say that from the beginning that we decided to plan this wedding we always had in mind to do it on a yacht and our first choice was the icon and as soon as we thought we decided to go with it we met our 1st coordinator. Husband deployed to Afghanistan so we had to move date. We then met our wedding planner and it turned out to be Ariel and then from then on she a pleasure to have worked with us.Sent on 05/03/2015
It got closer to the date and she was on top of making sure that we had all our vendors set and ready coordinated and reserved everybody that we needed last scheduled our food tasting.
And we went ahead and had our wedding and it was absolutely perfect nothing went wrong. Everything else was really awesome and everybody keeps complimenting how wonderful everything was from the lovely garden ceremony to boarding to the appetizers, cocktail hour to the actual wedding night as far as dancing. Everything was organized. As the bride & groom, we didn’t have to worry about anyone not being taken care of. Chef David the best food ever everybody had nothing but the best things to say about how beautiful the presentation was for the salad to the actual main course which we had filet mignon and we have the strawberry salmon and everything was perfectly perfect. And just overall I would recommend having your wedding aboard the Icon Yacht. Ariel Janikowski was our coordinator and she was very professional, very organized always on top of it. Our officiant, Brian, our DJ Daniel, the staff. Wonderful unforgettable wedding that we’ll cherish in our hearts forever. Thank you Charter Icon Yacht Staff!

Janelle was my coordinator and she was wonderful! She made everything fit just perfect for my husband and me. I planned out wedding in just over three months and they take care of just about everything, if you would like them too. Very easy and very flexible and cater to your needs. The ICON was the yacht we got married on and it is absolutely beautiful. Definitely look into getting married on a yacht; it isn't as expensive as you think. I also looked into the Harborside Pavilion in Newport Beach, also very beautiful and an excellent price, but the yacht fit our U.S. Navy theme better. Their food was exceptional as well! They are featured on American Idol (I believe that is the show) and the food was very good. It was also priced very well. I had organized a family reunion and 80th birthday celebration for my dad that included 45 friends and family members. I had under a month to put it all together and Stacy LaRue was instrumental in helping me make it happen. I do live aprox 60 miles from Newport Beach so majority of arrangements were handled over the phone and via email. I really only had to make two trips down to Newport Beach in order to make all the decisions and complete the arrangements that included florist, caterer, bakery, and DJ.Sent on 04/10/2014
When I first stepped onto the Icon, I knew it was the boat for the event. From Its modern, pristine, and clean appearance down to its wide stairs, walkways, and sturdy hand rails, I was impressed. I had looked into one other company that had a fleet of various boats. The Icon and Charter Yachts of Newport Beach (CYNB) was definitely in a higher class. I did not sense or observe the same level of attention, service, or cleanliness from the other company compared to CYNB.
When the day of the event did arrive, all details had been worked out and I was able to fully enjoy the event while the crew and Stacy LaRue took over. We had ample room to move around and it was quite apparent that the Icon could accommodate a larger group. Guests and family members had commented on how incredible the food and service were. When we arrived back at the dock, many guests did not want to disembark the Icon including myself. It turned out to be a perfect day and an unforgettable event!
