We first heard these guys play as the Aeroplane String Band at the Funkatorium in Asheville. My then fiancee and I were immediately taken by their renditions of John Hartford's tunes. That night we asked them if they would play our wedding and they happily agreed. Booking was easy and very professional. They played guitar and banjo during our wedding ceremony and played full band during cocktail hour. The ceremony was next to a creek amidst freshly fallen leaves - the music was the perfect touch to round out the magic of the scene.

Heavy fall rains in the weeks preceding the wedding resulted in a very loud, raging creek. We realized we would need to mic the ceremony which these guys gracefully took care of. They took care of all things audio related which made the day much easier for us.

Ben was incredibly flexible and helpful while planning the ceremony music. Our wedding guests enjoyed listening and dancing during cocktail hour. I hope we throw another big party soon so we can get these guys to come play again!

We loved having Brushfire Stankgrass perform at our wedding! Besides being an extremely talented group of musicians, they are very professional and were always available to answer any questions we had before the big day. They played in banjo/guitar duo form during our wedding ceremony and the full band played during the reception. We selected songs from their diverse playlist and they also learned a few custom songs for a small additional cost. They were awesome and everyone had a blast! Would highly recommend to future brides!

Brushfire StankGrass was one of my easiest vendors to work with for my May 2014 wedding! They played at our wedding and reception and did so perfectly! They were very professional, super talented, easy to work with and communicate with, sung pretty much every song we wanted and were absolutely great to work with! My friends and family danced all night and had such a fantastic time... we are still getting sweet messages about how fun the reception was. If you want an interactive band that will be memorable and different, and can get the party started... I would use BRUSHFIRE STANKGRASS!

Excellent Band for our Mountain Wedding

The Saylor Brothers were the PERFECT touch to my sister’s mountain wedding. They played beautiful bluegrass and soft music during the ceremony but turned up the funk for the reception! We love to dance and they made it happen! Could not recommend them more.

    Bunch of Thieves

These guys are pretty shady. Our wedding was cancelled due to COVID, and per North Carolina Executive Order, indoor gatherings of more than 10 people and outdoor gatherings of more than 25 people were strictly prohibited and unlawful.

Nowhere in our contract did it say that the deposit was non-refundable. In fact, the contract stated the deposit was to "secure booking."

When the wedding was cancelled and could not have taken place due to government restrictions completely out of our hands, the band stole $1,000 from us. They took $1,000 from us for doing absolutely no work, and insist it's their right to keep it. It's not like we decided not to have a wedding. The state of North Carolina outlawed it, and Brushfire Stankgrass felt as though this entitled them to keep $1,000.

    Brushfire's reply:

Sorry for the hardship Matthew. We refunded half of your deposit ($500) so theres one inaccuracy in this review. The remainder of your deposit was retained because we turned away multiple other offers to take the date. You also moved away from the area and couldn't reschedule, which we offered to do at any point in the future and still honor your deposit. We rescheduled all of our other 2020 bookings interrupted by the pandemic, we're sorry that it didn't work out with your booking.
