Chris Turner of Lyssabeth's Wedding Officiants gave us exactly what we wanted for our ceremony! They are quick to respond, easy to work with and made our small and intimate ceremony so personal. This is a great option for the non-church wedding and I would definitely recommend them!

We had a wonderful time working with Lyssabeth's Wedding Officiants. Their website has lots of great information, Maureen (the owner) is extremely knowledgeable, their administrative staff is highly professional, and our officiant, Vicky, worked closely with us to make sure our vows were just right for us. Everyone loved the ceremony and commented on how beautiful it was. Lyssabeth's made sure our ceremony was the most memorable and least stressful part of our wedding.

    Sent on 09/13/2011

    Blue Sky Elopements's reply:

    Rachel,

We try our best to make sure that stress and the bride stay as far apart from one another as possible on the wedding day. I'm glad (but not surprised!) that Vicky was able to do that for you!

We chose Vicky to officiate our wedding, and we couldn't be happier because we had an amazing wedding ceremony! We chose Lyssabeth's because we wanted the ceremony to reflect our personalities instead of that of a religous figure or a judge. Lyssabeth's helped us write a custom ceremony that had everyone in the crowd in tears. Vicky was extremely professional, responsive and perfect for our wedding. Highly recommended!

    Heather,

Another fabulous review for Vicky! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts. We strive to make sure that each ceremony we do is in sync with a couple's values and budget and I'm thrilled to hear that the ceremony you put together with Vicky was a perfect fit for you.

We worked with Jenn B. She was fantastic! She helped us through the process and to create exactly the customized ceremony we were looking for. She was very flexible, responsive, and a great calming effect through the process as well as on the day of.

The only drawback in our eyes was the cost of going through the service....however, after much looking, she was truly the one we felt the best connection with and that we would be happy with having officiate for our day.

    Sent on 10/31/2009

    Blue Sky Elopements's reply:

Thanks for your thoughtful words! We do pride ourselves on keeping stress and the bride as far apart form each other as possible on the wedding day. And yes, Jenn is a pro at that. And I'm willing to bet she kept you smiling,

As far as pricing, our price for a Classic Custom is $389, which falls within the average range of $300 to $425 charged by a professional Colorado wedding officiant. Sometimes couples are surprised at the amount of wedding officiating fees, until they see the amount of time that goes on behind the scenes to result in a polished, unique and memorable ceremony. We do try to keep our prices as low as we can while still be able to offer the best service around.

Thanks for your input. We always appreciate the time it takes to let us know how we're doing.

Maggie did a great job with my wedding. She did everything we asked for and then some. The only thing we heard from our guest was that she was hard to hear we had an outside reception with 80 people. But standing right in front of her she was great. The only people who really needed to hear her did. Thanks for a wonderful ceremony.

    Sent on 10/03/2009

    Blue Sky Elopements's reply:

Thanks for your kind words. I just want to clarify that I believe your officiant was Megan Riley, as we don't have a Maggie on our officiating staff. (As long as she got YOUR names correctly, that's really all that matters!) I'm delighted (although not surprised) that you felt Megan to be a good fit. She exudes a warmth and sensitivity toward her couples that is unrivaled.

We generally advise couples that for weddings with more than 50 people and/or background noise (like traffic or rushing water) to provide a microphone for the officiant so that even those in the very back row can hear every word.

We used Lyssabeth's and Rachel Preston was our officiant. Rachel was great to work with and very flexible in helping us put together the perfect service. We selected Lyssabeth's Colorado Wedding Officiants because my fiance and I were specifically interested in a secular wedding ceremony. We loved working with Bill Miller and enjoyed getting to know him for an hour at his home....we also loved the ability to personalize our wedding ceremony! He provided an entire menu of options for our opening words, blessing, and exchange of rings and it was the perfect balance of selecting something that felt meaningful to us, while also not having to write the entire ceremony ourselves! Bill has a great speaking voice and he was professional and encouraging throughout the entire ceremony. I would recommend this service to anyone!

Lesley was a pleasure to work with. She was very personable and calm through all of our work before the wedding and - especially - at the ceremony. She helped us understand all the possibilities of a wedding ceremony, gave us much material from which to choose and, in the end, was very respectful of our "simple, casual" desires.

We’re both very grateful for her patience with the back-n-forth of writing our ceremony and for her flexibility in allowing our personalities to be in the forefront of our wedding. We have received several compliments on our ceremony and that’s largely owing to Lesley’s willingness to know and understand who we are and what we wanted from a wedding ceremony.

She's been a knowledgeable, calming influence before, during and after our wedding.

Vicky officiated our wedding, and she is so wonderful! She was very flexible and understanding of what we wanted. Our ceremony was beautiful; I couldn't've asked for better!

    Sent on 07/25/2014

    Blue Sky Elopements's reply:

Thanks so much for your kind words about our services. I'm a bit confused about the discrepancy between your effusive review of officiant Vicky Hampton and the Value score of 3.0! However, since you choose to remain anonymous, we have no way of addressing the situation with you directly. One can only assume that there was an expectation that the officiant be "wonderful and flexible" (i.e. giving superior quality and exceptional service) for a rock-bottom price. As with most professional services, 5.0 ratings in service, responsiveness, flexibility and professionalism do not come with bargain pricing. Our prices fall in the mid-range of professional officiants in the area and considering our track record, we feel that offers the highest of values.

We always welcome feedback and are appreciative that you took the time to share your thoughts. All the best to the two of you.

This package was perfect for us. We didn't want the 'big wedding' and only invited immediate family. The process was explained clearly and everything went smoothly on the day. We loved our photographer Meo, she knew what she wanted and it suited us well, we even got to recreate some of my husband's parents wedding photos, which was wonderful. Thanks for everything.

Kimberly was our officiant and she was wonderful! She was so much fun to work with and the ceremony was beautiful! We were very pleased with how everything turned out. The price was a little high for what we were expecting, but it was worth it!

    Sent on 11/17/2007

    Blue Sky Elopements's reply:

Yes, Kim always gets rave reviews. Thank you for yours. In terms of price, our fees are about average for officiants in the area. And I agree that a professional wedding officiant is well worth the money. There are so many ins and outs to performing a ceremony well--especially if something unexpected occurs--and it's nice to know you're in good hands from start to finish.

Our wedding was officiated by Dana. She was easy to communicate with and very enthusiastic about our wedding. I liked that she incorporated "us" into the ceremony, even though it was just a basic script with pre-written vows. She did a nice job during the ceremony, but did stumble over her words once or twice. The best part was how easy going she was about starting the ceremony late. I had forgotten the marriage license and asked one of my bridesmaids to go get it for us. Dana was so sweet about the whole thing and said it was no problem at all. She was also really good about directing us. I was nervous about when I should start walking and she talked me through everything to assuage my concerns. Overall, we were quite pleased with Dana.

    Sent on 09/13/2011

    Blue Sky Elopements's reply:

    Nicole,

I found out after your ceremony that Dana performed it with a raging migraine headache, which may have accounted for the word lapse. That's only one of the things that I love about Dana--and all of our officiants--they check their personal (and this case physical) baggage at the door when it comes to performing a ceremony. Our goal is to make it all about the bride and groom on their wedding day.

I'm thrilled that she was able to pull it off (beyond the minor lapse of a word or two) without you suspecting anything. She's a pro.

    Thanks for sharing your experience.

Read your contract before signing. They will not go above and beyond without charging you additional fees. Also, virtually all communication is done through email. Charged us additional fees after we changed our venue due to weather and we took care of everything besides calling the vendors. You are better off making the arrangements yourself and not having to incur additional fees when you need to make changes last minute. The vendors, however, were great.

    Sent on 04/20/2016

    Blue Sky Elopements's reply:

When clients become verbally abusive, we have 2 options--immerse ourselves in the drama or take the road of integrity. We choose the latter--getting into it with abusive clients drains us of positive energy…and well…who needs that?

“Anonymous” received a to-die for wedding day. Her review affirms this. Her vendors were indeed amazing. Her upset occurred when she changed her contracted venue (not due to weather, but because she found something she liked better 3 days before her wedding).

We charge a nominal fee when a client changes their venue. It’s red, bold, italicized and underlined (no kidding) on our contract that there will be an additional fee to cover the extra time required when a couple changes their venue.

What she means by saying we “don’t go above and beyond” is that we don’t do things for free. We’re going to plead guilty to that. We have stellar reviews for many reasons; one of them is that we have contractual obligations that we honor time and time again—resulting in many happy couples. What we ask in return is respect for our time. We simply can’t add upgrades or changes that require more time & work without a corresponding increase in price.

This was not about simply issuing a new contract. Changing a venue at the last minute involves a tremendous amount of vendor re-coordination. The small fee didn’t even come close to covering our time to handle the extra work.

“A” is correct in that you should always read contracts prior to signing. Then there should be no outrage when the terms are enforced.

Regarding our communications—we respond to clients in whatever way they communicate with us—text, phone, email. “A” was an emailer and so we always responded in kind. Had she called, we would have responded via phone.

You can’t please everyone, but you can stick to your values. And mutual respect is a value that we hold dear.

Buyer Beware!***** At first Maureen was helpful, but when we considered how important wedding pictures were, my daughter requested websites of the photographers Maureen uses. On her website she said we would have a LIST of preferred vendors to choose from. The more my daughter pushed for the info, the more agitated Maureen became, and the harder she was to connect with! I suspected something, so I did some research and discovered the reason..WHY.... The photographer we were assigned, just happened to be Maureen's husband...Jeremy. Talk about no integrity and a CONFLICT of Interest.. Once I figured that out, I looked at his website and was not impressed with his photography skills.
However, the makeup and hair girl, the flowers, and Preacher Bob were wonderful and produced great products. SO, it just boils down to, HOW important are wedding photos to you.

    Sent on 02/24/2018

    Blue Sky Elopements's reply:

When a bride’s mom insists on making the arrangements, I need to issue an immediate refund &, cancel the contract. I didn't do that with this duo & that was a huge mistake. I’ll own that.
Sorry to burst anyone’s drama bubble, but there is no super-secret cover-up to hide the fact that my husband and I run our business together. It states all over our website that the business is “co-owned by husband & wife team Maureen & Jeremy." It doesn’t take much of a detective to “figure out” that he’s an integral part of things!

My husband and I LOVE working together and feel this is an asset, not something to hide. As a professional photographer for 25 years, Jeremy oversees the screening of photographers that work for us. And yes, he does shoot the occasional wedding. (Most are thrilled when they get the business owner to do their photography!)
Our ideal bride is one that wants an all-inclusive package. They don’t want to be bothered with prescreening vendors. The bride never asked for a list of vendors. Perhaps she asked her mother? Who knows? The communication was so skewed with Mom consistently insinuating herself into the process that it was impossible to keep things straight (even for me--the Queen of communicating!).
The reason Jeremy took this photo assignment himself was that we KNEW it was going to be a difficult couple and we didn’t want to subject our photographers to the situation! (We like our photographers and want them to keep working for us!!)
    No good deed goes unpunished.
I’d say it was a comedy of errors, except it wasn’t funny…just sad.
    Boundaries, Mom…Boundaries.
My take on this one for anyone reading this review and trying to decide if we’re a good fit for your small wedding? It’s not about photography. (Simply look on our website to see the quality of our work.) It’s about having the self-confidence to work with us directly and not having one’s Mom run interference for such an important day.
    Lesson learned.

We loved the ceremony that our officiant, provided to us by Lyssabeth's Wedding Officiants, had written up for us! It reflected our values that we had discussed with Bill. We made it very clear to him that we did not any religious references in our ceremony. He told us that, though he was religious, he respected that and would oblige. The ceremony that we had agreed upon did not have any religious references.

However, at the end of our ceremony, after Bill had pronounced us husband and wife and we walked up the aisle, he asked our entire audience to join him in asking for God's blessing over our union and then proceeded in prayer.

This is EXTREMELY disrespectful, offensive, and unprofessional!!!!!!

I would never recommend Lyssabeth's Wedding Officiants due to the disgusting disrespect that we were shown by them.

You also brought this to my attention in a personal email. I understand that you are angry and upset. We pride ourselves in making sure our couples don't receive any unwelcome surprises in their ceremony script. To be honest, when I first read your email, my first thought was that you must be mistaken in some way. That is how positive I was that none of my officiants would violate our company policy of adhering to the couple's expressed values when performing a ceremony.

To my surprise (that's putting it mildly), the officiant confirmed that he had indeed added an Irish Blessing that he likes at the conclusion of your ceremony (after you and your new husband had exited). I am totally flummoxed as to why he thought this would be a welcomed addition. His intention was certainly not to proselytize; he'd received feedback from other couples that liked the blessing and so therefore made a lapse in judgement and added it to your ceremony as well.

When we make human errors, the best we can do is try to mitigate the damage that has been caused. To that end, we have issued you a full refund of your fee, along with an apology. I've also sent out a memo to all of our officiants letting them know that wedding ceremony scripts are NEVER to be embellished upon once they are approved by the couple. Although I've personally emailed you--as has the officiant--I do express my deepest regret, once again, here on Wedding Wire that this incident occurred.

We had our wedding in Carmel California and Stacy was our officiant. We were disappointed with the service we received for a few reasons. The reasons include Stacy’s belly showing and mispronouncing my name during our ceremony! She also left part 26B of our marriage certificate blank- causing us the hassle to connect with the county clerk and have it fixed. I regret using them!

It's never a good thing when a client is unhappy with our services (but we do appreciate the high marks for responsiveness). Fortunately, it's a rare occurrence for us, as evidenced by our other reviews. This situation was fraught with inconsistencies and lack of communication, so it was very difficult to get to the bottom of the problem. We have photos of the wedding showing the officiant as wearing appropriate attire (no midriff-baring clothes are EVER allowed!) so I'm not clear on that reference. We also tried repeatedly to ascertain the problem with the marriage license (which item was incomplete) but clarification from the couple was never provided. All in all, it was a rather frustrating situation for all concerned. Clearly this bride had complaints and we did make every effort to resolve them, but in the end, we simply issued a partial refund rather than waste any more of the couple's time or ours in trying to sort out the situation.
