Would not recommend

I really hate to write bad reviews; however I remember reading hair/ makeup reviews for hours and hours when I was deciding who to hire for my wedding and I would have loved to have read a review like this. I hired Beauty Unveiled by Tia in Aug 2023 for my 9/21/24 wedding. I booked the “elite” premium HMU for myself, the bride, and booked HMU for 6 bridesmaids and was so excited! Tia did my hair/ makeup for my engagement photoshoot in Sep 2023 and I loved it! However, the company decides which hair/ makeup artist you are paired up with… in Feb 2024 I had to schedule my hair and makeup trials where I had to travel to their location. I had to drive to Kiel for my makeup trial (1 hour drive each way). I was wanting full glam, like Kim Kardashian glam, and left with my makeup looking like a middle schooler did it. It was extremely blotchy, didn’t match my skin color and there was absolutely nothing “elite” or “glam” about it. The makeup artists next trial appointment was there a few minutes early and sitting in her living room waiting right next to me, so I did not have the opportunity to tell her how unhappy I was with everything). The first 4 pictures are pictures I took in my car, 5 min after I left. I broke down bawling in my car, never had I anticipated my bridal makeup looking as awful and terrible as it did. I emailed Tia about the situation and voiced my concerns about the quality of the makeup and was given 2 options: 1. Do another trial with the same artist or 2: Be released from my contract without penalty. I was very disappointed that there was no effort to find me a better artist.

I did go to my hair trial a few days later (another 1 hour drive each way). I thought the hair trial looked okay, but not fabulous. I paid for both trials and tipped both of them (even though I wasn’t happy, they still provided a service). I ended up getting a referral to another company that was AMAZINGGGG and available somehow on the day of my wedding. She got my into her studio for a hair/ makeup trial 2 days later and she NAILED IT. I have attached pictures of that trial as well to show what I was looking for.

My takeaway is that Beauty Unveiled by Tia is a great option for someone that normally wears little to no make up and is looking for a more “natural” style. Not someone who is wanting full Hollywood glam. I did end up cancelling my contract and hiring the 2nd artist that I found.

Beautiful looks

Fantastic service by Tia’s team, Ceci and Megan G! My initial hair and makeup trial went well & gave me peace of mind going into my wedding day. Both artists were prompt at arriving and completed their services in a timely fashion. My bridal party, mothers, and I were all pleased with how our hair and makeup looked!

Would hire them over and over again!! ❤️

Tia and Kristin did my hair and makeup for my friend’s wedding last year and they did an amazing job. After that I knew I had to have them for my wedding. Tia did my hair and makeup for my wedding a couple weeks ago and It was everything I had hoped for. She is so talented with everything she does and I got tons of compliments. Communication is also phenomenal! Would recommend to anyone

Extra fees & extra stress

I was excited to book Beauty Unveiled as it has such high reviews-I would recommend brides look on the Wisconsin Brides facebook page for additional bridal experiences that differ a bit from some of these reviews.

All in all, I liked the MUA/hairstylist assigned to me but wish that I could have found her without booking under Beauty Unveiled. There were a lot of additional fees with booking under this company. I did not realize when booking that my MUA would be located in Chicago and that I would have to drive there or pay additional fees for my trial. They also tried to give me an early start fee which I argued because I already had to pay for a hotel for my mua for the night before the wedding. They added a lot of extra stress-sending me an "URGENT" email days before my wedding stating that they would cancel my services if I didn't pay the outstanding fees (which I had paid in full months prior, they just happened to add the travel fees the week of my wedding without sending me any other notice). I would recommend doing thorough research before booking!

Average Make-Up, Lack Professionalism

Long story short, my bridal party and I did not receive the full/complete services we paid for. We had so many issues through the services and after they left the majority of my bridal party had make-up crisis (make-up breaking down, oily skin, creasing, patchy shadow, etc.) and my curls were flat by the time we took pictures. They did not book enough time, the MUA struggled with my lashes at the trial and did not offer to help or place lashes on my wedding party on the wedding day because she might not be able to do it well due to our eye shape or have time for the clusters (I had to do the lash strips for some or they had to learn how to use lash clusters). Tia was very unprofessional to my review and the negative feedback. The constant deflecting and blaming the wedding party was uncalled for. She refused to acknowledge any of the issues we encountered. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!

Wonderful!!!

What a wonderful experience! I was a guest at a friends wedding and hired this team to style me and my two friends, so we could feel glamorous for the our friend April’s big day. They came to my home, and did all of our Hair & Makeup. Not only did it last all night, but we got so many compliments. We were very proud to tell them that Candice and Meghan from Beauty Unveiled by Tia made us beautiful for the day!

Such a genuine team

I used Tia’s team for my wedding 11/11 and when I say I was brought to tears by the look Tia was able to achieve on me. Wedding planning has not come easy as we had expected due to some personal issues so that stress alone just had my skin paying the price. She recommended the skincare upgrade that they offer and I was shocked at how well it did of just taking down my redness and making my skin feel so smooth. Just those little things made me feel so much better about my skin. I had 6 girls in the party and her team did THAT! I can’t remember the woman’s name but everyone was so happy with their looks and how she was able to deliver even though everyone did want quite a different look. The longevity, quality and timeliness really took the cake, I couldn’t be happier with my experience with these wonderful ladies and I will be recommending to all my soon to be friends! Thank you Tia ❤️

From good to bad

I intially had a great experience with the stylist I booked and paid for from my trial. Fast forward to wedding day. The stylist I booked was unfortunately not able to make it so they sent another stylist, no big deal right? Wrong. Long story short, it was not good. Majority of my bridal party hated their hair and as the bride, I was also very unhappy with how mine turned out. And the company was already paid ahead of time with gratuity automatically included.

Book Tia Now!

I should have written this review months ago, but I got busy and I'm embarrassed to say I forgot. But I cannot say enough amazing things about Tia. The communication was amazing. She sent me multiple emails throughout the planning process so I never had to worry about random fees or if I was forgotten (which happened to me with other vendors). I felt prioritized even though I know she has multiple weddings on Saturdays -- in fact it made me feel better knowing that she was organized and that if I had any emergencies, she would be able to handle them.

Tia herself is AMAZING! She is funny, creates the most beautiful styles and she worked with me to create the perfect hair and makeup combination for my wedding. We did change my hairstyle from the trial and I loved what we created. She is so talented and every single person in my bridal party loved that she was with us on our getting ready morning.

Thank you Tia and team for making my wedding day perfect.

Wish I could give separate reviews for company and artists!

There was poor communication about important information (a stylist that I did not know showed up before my known stylist, and everyone was confused and panicked), but constant communication threatening extra charges (including ones that were not in my contract). It made for a stressful situation for me. I don't even have a problem with their requests, but it was the bombardment of threats that made me so anxious. The artists themselves did not seem to care much about these requests (although we did comply). They were kind, fun, and flexible!

That being said, the hair and makeup artists (DarylAnne, Candice, and Emily) that we had were PHENOMENAL. Everyone looked completely gorgeous. Plus, they were done way ahead of schedule!

Do NOT get Tia

There are so many great hair/makeup artists, trust me and look elsewhere or at least find a different team than I had.

To start off, I had my trial done. I arrived at 9:45am and was questioned why I was there, that my trial didn't start until 10am. (I drove from 1.5 hours away, I didn't want to be late and to be honest, I was very excited!)
As soon as I got into the chair, I showed her a few pictures and she got to work. Not only was Tia silent the ENTIRE time but she didn't ask my name or anything about me. The few word exchanged were initiated by me, "have you ever done hair at ____?" - No, where is that? "In _______." - ya, I typically don't travel more than 30 minutes. "Oh, well I'm suprised you agreed" - ya me too.
When I left I was very uneasy with the overall experience and felt as if she had no care at all. But being optimistic, I pushed it aside figuring "maybe she's just having a off day."
Overtime I decided to change my style, since the trial was 8 months before my actual wedding day. I emailed her and she said it shouldn't be a problem.
DAY OF - When Tia arrived I mentioned changing the style and she said she had no clue, that her assistant handles all emails..... that I understand but does her assistant not relay messages to her? - I thought that was weird.
Anyways, all the girls obviously had their vision. Well, she shut them all down and said she can't do that. I showed her 2 pictures to go off of and she said "well those are both different, which one do you want" - I want something like these too...
She spent all morning making rude faces, grudging and seeming annoyed at my bridal party. My niece asked if she can redo some curls that were falling out at the end if she has time and her response was "I told you you can't hold a curl so you shouldn't have it half down" and never tried to fix it. Instead, another bridemaid re curled it for her and it held all night.

Overall I was extremely disappointed in her hospitality and overall personality. As far as her work, it looked great for an hour, by the ceremony my curls were falling and it was completely frizzed by the end of dinner. She used ZERO products minis a spray of hairspray at the end and didn't even say goodbye.

I have alot of friends and family in the hair industry and they all agreed someone who is so well known in the hair/makeup industry should know how to hold a curl regardless on if your hair holds it or not, you make it work with research on products to create artwork.

Thank you for your feedback. I apologize for any disappointment you experienced. I wish you had brought these concerns to my attention. I always strive to work with my clients to ensure their satisfaction.

Regarding your trial: I may have asked you why you were there to clarify whether you were the client I was expecting to pick up extensions or if you were there for a trial. I apologize if my silence seemed rude. I find that I work more efficiently when I focus & remain quiet. I also tend to adapt to the energy of my clients. Since you were relaxed and quiet as well, I likely mirrored that behavior. I'm sorry for not asking your name. It was already listed in the appointment details, so I was aware of it. Typically, I don't accept bookings more than 30 mins away from me, as I have a 7yo daughter & value the time I spend with her. I recall accepting your booking because I happened to be the closest artist available to you.

As for the Wedding day: It's common for brides to make last-minute changes to their look. I am always accommodating of that. I apologize if you felt a lack of communication between me & my assistant. We always ask the bride about their preferred look to ensure we are on the same page, in case any changes were made.

I find it hard to believe that I would shut down any of the inspiration photos provided by the bridal party. My intention is always to offer advice & feedback based on factors such as hair type, volume, length, weather conditions. If a client shows me a photo that cannot be replicated exactly, I would never compromise quality & would communicate that my style my not duplicate it well. We encourage clients to bring inspiration photos that are not solely from Instagram or Pinterest, as many feature extensions & filtered enhancements. If any of your bridal party felt that I was dismissing their ideas, it was never my intention. I always strive for perfection.

For your hair, I recall you showing me 2 photos, each with unique characteristics. Since it was your wedding day and not a trial, I wanted to ensure I understood exactly what you liked from each photo so I could create the look you envisioned. I NEVER provide services without using hair products. If you had mentioned any issues from your trial with your hair not holding a curl, I would have suggested another trial to troubleshoot & ensure the desired result. I apologize if your hair didn't hold a curl or became frizzy. Unfortunately, with down hairstyles, touch-ups & adjustments are often necessary throughout the event due to external factors such as the elements & contact with clothing.

I would never make rude faces, show annoyance, or begrudge anyone. I genuinely love what I do, and even if I'm upset for any reason, I would never let it show. If anyone perceived it that way, they were mistaken.

Your niece informed me her hair didn’t hold a curl well. I assured her that I would do my best and offered advice that a down style might not be the best choice then. I always offer minor touch-ups at the end. I don't recall turning down any requests for touch-ups. There may have been a situation where she wasn't available at the time of touch-ups. Stylists are artists, not magicians. We can use all our expertise & techniques, but if a client's hair doesn't hold a curl well, there are limitations to what we can achieve.

There are instances where I may need to leave promptly & may not be able to say goodbye in person to the bride if they are elsewhere. I apologize if this was the case. I always make sure to say goodbye to whoever is present in the room. I would never just sneak out without acknowledging others.

I hope this clarifies any misunderstandings & provides some insight into my intentions and processes. Your concerns are important to me, and I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss them further & find a way to rectify the situation.

Wonderful experience

I had my original makeup artist cancel on me so I was very hesitant when booking another, that and I could no longer afford a trial! I put all my trust in this company and so glad I did, my makeup was flawless on my big day. Brittany was my makeup artist and was incredibly responsive, calling me when she arrived to my location early and every email I sent prior. Highly recommend!

Great experience

I can’t believe the amazing experience I had with Tia and her team. Bridal hair and makeup is definitely an expensive investment, but honestly, the photos are all you have left after your wedding is over. I look at my photos hanging in my living room, and I am so grateful that I truly love how I look! My hair and makeup were perfect! Tia had Megan, Ceci, and is Zaliyah style my ladies, and we were all blown away! I definitely recommend booking with this team. We did have a few challenges with being able to get into our venue early enough, but Tia suggested to get an Airbnb, and I’m so grateful we did. My girls and I had a fun slumber party the night before, and we were there and ready to rock for hair and makeup the next morning. She seriously gives great advice! Oh! And buy the hair extensions and hair pieces from her!!! So worth it and much less expensive than anywhere else!

I wish I could get married 1000X and use Beauty Unveiled for every wedding

WOW -- JUST WOW. I went into my wedding knowing that my inspo photos were just that -- inspiration but that my look wouldn't be identical to the one that I showed my artist. But I was so so wrong! My photo was EXACTLY a match. My hair is naturally thin and doesn't grow very long. I was really worried that it would look sparse -- but I WAS SO WRONG! Tia worked wonders with my hair. I cried when I saw it and I was worried that I messed up my makeup but the tears literally rolled down my face on top of the makeup which didn't even budge when I wiped them away. Not only this but I swear my hair was finished in 20 minutes and she wasnt even rushing.

I opted for airbrushing and I am SO GLAD I DID. Kristin -- my Makeup artist gave me an exfoliating spray to use before I began and it made my skin so soft. The airbrush glided on so smoothly that my face looked like a filter. It didn't feel like I was wearing anything and literally lasted all night. I have never felt so beautiful.

I would book this team 1000x over.

Always a bridesmaid never a bride -- by far the best experience ive ever had

I have been in multiple weddings -- a classic "always a bridesmaid" situation. Honestly, I've never loved hair or makeup. I'm very particular about how my skin looks and I always feel like my hair looks like a teased ratty mess or the curls fall out as soon as the artist leaves. My photo never actually resembles the inspo photo. It's just comical at this point. Between 2023-2024 Ive been in 9 weddings. Considering average hair and makeup services are about $200 I could've taken a vacay for what I've spent being a bridesmaid just on the beauty services.

Going into my friends wedding last weekend, I thought "here we go again...." but I was floored. Seriously OMG. I cant remember the names of the artists that worked on me (sorry there was a lot going on) but I have never felt so beautiful. I didn't even want to wash off my makeup and I 100% slept in my hair. When I woke up the next morning it was STILL curled as beautifully as when she finished the day before (AND THE PINS STAYED). When I was talking to the artist (very personable btw), she explained that this team focuses a lot on education for bridal hair and makeup and OMG it shows. Every single bridal party member looked so stunning. And not that we're ugly girls to start with, but all of our natural beauty was just like magnified....

I mean I'm seriously considering booking this team the next time Im in a wedding solely for myself. Thank you for putting emphasis on training artists to ACTUALLY give us paying clients something we a feel confident in. This was the best experience I've ever had.

Mixed Experience

My experience with this company left me with mixed feelings. They did provide a satisfactory service in terms of the actual hair/makeup for my wedding party for the most part, but I couldn't help but feel frustrated by some hidden fees + some of the communication.

On the positive side, the stylists were very talented, especially when it came to hair. For the make up, some of the shades seemed off— one of my girls was given purple eye shadow (which looked great on her), but the other 9 out of 10 girls had neutral colored eye make up, so I am not sure why that happened (my bridesmaid didn’t request it either). Additionally, two of the girls had lip color that they changed when they were finished because it matched their skin tone a little too much.

However, where my experience was more mixed was in terms of professionalism with pricing & customer service. There ended up being hidden costs that I did not find stated in the original contract.

Example 1:
Email I received two weeks before— “Each artist requires 4 feet of set up space, a bar height chair for makeup services, a standard chair for hair services. Makeup setup should be near NATURAL light -- facing a window or patio doors. Fees apply $25 per item per artist if we have to provide our own lighting, chairs, or table set up and will be collected before artists begins services."

This is what is stated in the contract:
“Service Location and Requirements: Location of service for the day- of-event will be at the discretion of the client, but there are certain requirements our team needs to complete the services. Working electrical outlets must be made available for use. A table/work area, chair as well as ample lighting, whether by means of natural or by lamps is necessary for services to be performed properly.”

We didn’t have barstools & the lightening wasn’t the best in our venue, so this would have been an extra $150. Tia never responded to this email, so we ended up finding bar stools on fb marketplace and rearranging where the HMU tables were at the venue to accommodate.

Example 2:

In one of my emails with Tia well after we booked it was stated that “two artists are always included in your booking, but any artists over 2 result in a $100 per artist fee. If you had less than the 18 services you would be charged $100 per artist as a penalty”

We had 18 services, so all 3 HMU artists had a full docket (which is 6). Simply because of our large group we’d have to pay an extra $100+ but I don’t feel like this was outlined in the contract either.

Tia didn’t respond to my email inquiry or text message, until I followed up 4 days later and then she responded with “I have removed the charge from your account” without any follow up to anything else I had said.

Lastly, I was happy with my bridal make up, but for the trial I was contacted to see if I could move my time back a little. I communicated that I could, but that I had a hard dead line of when I had to leave due to a virtual work meeting. When I arrived (at the time we had pushed our appointment back to) she was still working on the previous bride, and I was left waiting. She ensured me that I would be finished in time, but I wasn’t (but I wasn’t going to leave with partially finished makeup). She was very kind and it looked great, but I felt rushed + had to take my meeting in the car.

Personally, these little things really matter. It added up to a stressful experience for me, and I wouldn’t go with this company if I had the choice again. They might have fixed this stuff in their contract now to make things clearer etc, but it wasn’t the kind of experience I had hoped for.

The Perfect Look!

Thank you so much for helping me feel so confident and beautiful on my wedding day! I was paired with Megan and she was great to work with. Tia and her team are *chefs kiss*. Tia literally pulled off a miracle on my mom who had brain surgery 6 months prior to my wedding. Check out her Instagram for the transformation. Amazing and Talented

Tia is amazing! She did my hair for my wedding day, along with the rest of my bridal party. She is so talented and sweet. I was a little nervous as I didn’t have time for a trial run but wow! Tia looked at a picture of what I wanted and matched exactly that! She is very skilled at what she does, we all loved our hair. She is also very timely and was able to do everyone’s hair with plenty of time to spare before the ceremony started. Definitely would recommend Tia for your wedding day hair!

Amazing Stylist!

Tia is the most amazing hairstylist I e ever been to! She and one of her assistants took care of 10 people plus an additional kiddo who wanted “hair to match coco!”

Tia is super efficient and just amazing at what she does! I could easily tell that hair styling is a passion and she cares deeply for her clients!

She easily fashioned my extremely long and think hair into an AMAZING up do! Not only did it look amazing, but my hair lasted until the end of my day where I had to pull everything out!

To reiterate, I wore my trial style to work under my scrub cap (I am an OR Nurse) and it lasted my entire 8 hour shift! The day of my wedding, I could have easily worn my hair the same way for the next day with lout anything out of place!

Tia is an extremely thoughtful and professional hairstylist. I was lucky enough to have an updo by her for one of my best friends weddings this past weekend and it has been my favorite wedding style of multiple weddings I’ve stood up in. The style stayed all night and I got so many compliments!! Would recommend using Tia if you ever have a wedding in the area.

Outstanding!

Josh and Megan did my bridal party's wedding hair and makeup. They were both outstanding and the nicest people! They showed up early, were so kind, and got along very well with my family. We had a very fun afternoon together. My bridal party and I loved our looks afterwards. My husband had light makeup applied and wouldn't stop talking about how relaxing the process was! He looked great as well! Thank you Tia for putting together such a fantastic team for us

Wonderful to work with!

Choosing Beauty Unveiled by Tia for my wedding hair and makeup was one of the best decisions I made! They made working together so simple and seamless and Tia responded quickly to all of my questions via email. On the actual day, they were so efficient and kept us ahead of schedule. Everybody’s hair and makeup turned out stunning! And I felt so beautiful thanks to Tia (hair) and Kristin (makeup). My look stayed in place all night, with only very minor touch- ups required! I would highly recommend Beauty Unveiled to other brides in the Milwaukee area! They are true professionals and so amazing to work with!

Talented Make-Up Artist Worth the Trip!

Recently doing a maternity boudoir shoot, I knew I wanted to get my make-up done because, let's face it, I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to make-up. Tia listened to what I envisioned and really made me feel and look just stunning. She took her time, gave great conversation during application and made the whole process a really positive one. I drove an hour just to see her and would definitely do it again for any event I'd need in the future that would need her skills and talent. Thank you Tia for the perfect experience and make me feel special during a time when growing a baby tends to make us feel unattractive, exhausted, and not very confident.
