Since I was a little girl, sweets have been my weakness. It wasn’t until 2019 that I had a taste of my dad’s Sweet Potato Pie, but he lived in Indy, while I live in Atlanta. I told myself, I want to learn how to bake from scratch. So I looked up a recipe, made it, and had my family taste it for Thanksgiving. They loved it! Then I had a taste for Peach Cobbler, so of course I looked up a recipe and made some Peach Cobbler, but this time I had my coworkers try it, and they loved it as well! One coworker said, I don’t like everyone’s Peach Cobbler, but this is really good, you should sell it. The next dessert I wanted to learn how to bake was Apple Pie, so I made some for my dad for Christmas 2020 and posted it on social media, and a friend of mine asked if I was selling it and if so, could he buy it. Before then, I always thought I should start selling my desserts, but I was scared to do so; however, I thought this was my chance, so I made one for him. I posted it on social media, and people started placing their orders, and that’s how my business started. I started out with pies first, so my business was called Whit’s SO GOOD Pies, but then I thought I was selling cobblers, which is not a pie, and I wanted to be a baker who is not only good at baking pies but also good at baking just about everything. So I changed my name to Whit’s SO GOOD Desserts in January 2021. From there, I expanded my menu with other desserts to have a full menu. For me, it’s not just about using a recipe and baking, it’s about putting my own twist to a recipe, making it my own, and putting the love that I want to share with the world, which makes people feel SO GOOD from every bite!
