About WGF Events, LLC
Located in historic Shepherdstown, WV ( just 90 minutes from Washington DC and Baltimore), Wild Goose Farm is situated on 170 acres of woodlands and gently rolling hills. The property was founded and maintained by the Shepherd family who oversaw 3 different periods of construction, resulting in an interesting confluence of architectural styles. A wonderful collection of outbuildings - including a Greek Revival inspired springhouse, a stone smoke/meat house, a brick ice shed, and wooden chicken coop - are connected by an extensive network of stone fences, retaining walls, and small roadways. Although the farm has changed hands several times since the 1940s, the essential character and use of the property have not changed. The manor house continued to be used as a retreat by later wealthy owners, including NASA engineer Robert Moss in the 1960s , as well as former West Virginia Governor Caperton in the late 1990s. In recognition of its historic and architectural significance, Wild Goose Farm was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 2018.
Since its beginning in the 1840s, Wild Goose has stood as an elegant backdrop of the genteel life. A beautifully restored barn now completes the essence of rustic elegance. Indeed, the perfect setting for celebrating your special occasion with family and friends . . .
We'd be delighted to arrange a private tour of the grounds. Please call us for more information.
