The Wells-Brown House is an elegant early-1870s Neoclassical residence. Simple wooden Tuscan columns support the Greek Revival Portico and other Greek Revival detailing includes the transom and sidelights surrounding the front door. Large,... mature oaks anchor the front yard and a historic wrought iron fence lines the Ridge Avenue frontage. Its second-story balcony affords a stunning view of the mountain. Scored and painted to appear like stone, the Wells Brown House is one of three examples of early concrete construction within the village and one of the few examples in the state.

We used the historic Wells Brown House for my bridal shower in September. It was the prettiest setting for the occasion -- we had the downstairs floor to ourselves and set up beverages in the kitchen, a full brunch spread in the dining room and the front living room as the gift room. We were able to make the space our own through decor (balloons, banners, table cloths, flowers, etc.), though they had beautiful China, copper mugs, etc. available on site as well. With about 30 women in attendance, the multiple rooms allowed everyone to spread out instead of feeling jammed into one area. The massive front porch, pretty garden and benches tucked around corners allowed for lots of great photos throughout the day and everyone was raving about how pretty it was. We also appreciated that it was handicap-accessible so my grandma-in-law could easily attend. Could not have hoped for a better bridal shower setting!Sent on 11/01/2017
