About WeatherLea Farm & Vineyard
We are a boutique seasonal venue, hosting up to 20 weddings per year between early May and late October. Our venue is a historic farm with a bucolic setting that features a lovely ceremony garden, a pond and bridge, extensive sheep pastures (one of which becomes an off-street parking lot during weddings, as well as flower gardens and a vineyard. (We grow grapes for a local winery, but are not a winery ourselves.)
Our most exciting venue feature is a large historic barn that has been improved for use as an event venue without destroying its rustic integrity. It has a built-in dance floor and upgraded electricity to handle professional sound systems, and it is permanently decorated with hundreds of twinkling lights. We make things easy for wedding couples by providing all necessary tables and chairs for up to 125 guests. We have a dedicated catering prep area on a covered porch near the barn.
Our farm also features two charming "farmstay" bed-and-breakfast cottages. The Milk Cottage -- called that because it was once a milking parlor for dairy cows -- features one bedroom (with queen bed), a spacious living/dining room (with a queen sleep sofa) and a full kitchen. During weddings the Milk Cottage is usually dedicated before the ceremony to the groom and his party to dress and hang out. The larger Shepherd's Cottage -- with three bedrooms, a spacious kitchen and breakfast room -- is ideal for the bride and bridesmaids to dress is, and many brides have hair and makeup professionals come and work there as well. During the reception the caterer may occasionally appreciate kitchen access in the Milk Cottage, and many couples opt to stay in one cottage or the other on wedding nights.
Owners Pamela and Malcolm Baldwin provide very careful and friendly service to wedding clients, and Malcolm Baldwin also often officiates at wedding ceremonies as a licensed Civil Celebrant. Our dates fill quickly, often more than a year in advance, so it is a good idea to visit early to ensure your choice of dates!
