The Well at the Distillery is a historic wedding venue located in Thornton, Illinois. The Bielfeldt family founded the distillery in 1857. Upon its inception, the distillery drilled a limestone well, enabling them to create quality beers for decades. The building has survived through fires, floods, and even the Prohibition Era. Al Capone established domain over the premises, only relinquishing his grasp in 1931 during his fall from power. Various brewing companies took residence in Thornton during the subsequent years, allowing a flourishing alcohol industry to grow in the area. It was in 1957 that beer brewing activities ceased at the facility, taking on various guises of other industries until its restoration in 2014. The Well at the Distillery refurbished the entire space as well as the equipment, bringing to life a new era of alcohol production. Standing as a testament of Chicago's enduring spirit, this venue is proud to share both its history and unique experience with couples celebrating a new chapter of their lives together.
