Owner Martin Rude, had a long-held love of old castles and barns which inspired he and his wife, Cheryl, to start the Barns @ Timber Creek venture. Castles in Kansas seemed a stretch but barns were a definite possibility. They found 35 acres with a stone barn just north of Winfield and began the journey. A second barn built with beams and hickory pegs in Oxford (11 miles east of Winfield) was found and donated on the condition that it would be taken down piece by piece and moved! They did it!. Students from the local high school advanced graphics class put the plans, that were in Martin's head, on basic blueprints and a local bank, CornerBank, believed in the Rudes' dream with a loan. Their two kids, grew up thinking barn building was a part of everyday life. Everyone survived, learned a lot, and opened the doors of the B&B beam barn in 2004. The restoration of the stone barn was completed in 2011.

We had nothing short of a fairytale wedding at The Barn! We knew we wanted something outdoors and rustic, but other venues were too expensive and didn’t offer acceptable inclement weather options. We initially wanted to get married outdoors facing the lake, but did end up with stormy weather and instead had an amazing fireside ceremony. Everything far exceeded all expectations! Whitney and Game Day Weddings were vastly accommodating in countless ways. We actually had a last minute issue with the officiant and they found a replacement on the day of the wedding. I can’t even count how many venues we researched all across Virginia, and if we could do it all over again we would still choose The Barn without a second thought.Sent on 10/10/2017

The Barns at Timbercreek is a gorgeous place. We got married in autumn and the setting was picture perfect. The Rude's, the family that owns the venue, runs the lovely bed & breakfast also part of the venue. The b&b is also available to rent for the weekend. Our wedding party loved staying there with us! The barns offer an outdoor ceremony site and a restored stone barn for the reception. The barn is beautiful. Made of limestone, the barn has wood floors, there is a fireplace, gold antique chandeliers in the side room, twinkle lights hang in the rafters of the main room, the barn has a catering kitchen, men's & women's restrooms, heat & air, large windows allow a wonderful view of the property. The barn has a large patio and is lit by patio lights and twinkle lights if you choose to have your reception outside. The Barns at Timbercreek was perfect for our big day.Sent on 11/05/2013
