Wow! If we could do it all again we wouldn't change a thing! The Barnard Inn made our dreams a reality with their unique Vermont setting amongst the Green Mountains of Vermont, their communication and organization, their unforgettable food (the most delicious fried chicken & 24 hour smoked brisket was just a start) and specialty cocktails (lavender Moscow mule with homemade ginger beer & a classic old fashioned) which still have our guests talking, their kindness that made us feel like family and so much more. Corinna (event coordinator) and Will (chef) are an excellent husband and wife team who's happiness comes from the smiles they see on their guests faces. We highly recommend The Barnard Inn as your wedding reception location!!!
We had our wedding at a summer camp in the area and hired the Barnard Inn as the catering and bar. Will, the owner/chef, was fantastic. He was responsive to emails, organized, and listened to our preferences. He was also able to accommodate two guests with very restricted dietary requirements (they told us they were amazed by the beautiful and delicious meal they received), with very little work on our part - we just sent a list of what they couldn't have and he came up with something. He also coordinated with rentals and even handled ordering napkins (we didn't do any other linen rentals).
We are in NYC, so we only met with Will twice, the first to discuss what we liked/didn't like, after which he developed a menu that we refined over email, then we met again around 5-6 weeks before the wedding to go over logistics and details. He was able to accommodate all of our requests (specific type of soda, specialty cocktail) and even was able to make a family recipe for dessert. He also remembered from our first meeting that we love garlic, so the two meat main courses were served on a platter divided by several roasted heads of garlic, which was a fantastic surprise!
All of the responses we received from our guests about the food were very positive. We weren't able to try the appetizers ourselves, but we did have the salad and 3 main courses (2 meat, 1 veggie pasta), which were all amazing. The food was served family style, which everyone liked and worked very well, since they got to try some of everything. The service was great and no one had to wait for food, unlike plated or buffet.
Our planner/coordinator had nothing but great things to say about working with Will/the Barnard Inn. We were very pleased and definitely recommend them, and I know we'll be back to the restaurant whenever we're in the area.
The owner/chef was willing to fit both the rehearsal dinner and wedding dinner into our budget while keeping superior quality and taste. He worked with the bridal couple and listened to what they liked and wanted. The staff was courteous and hard working. My husband and I would hire the Inn to do any other important event in the future.
