About
On WeddingWire since 2023
Tappo at the Museum is a wedding and event venue in Buffalo, New York, designed by architect George Cary and constructed in 1862. This expansive and versatile property is a treasured landmark steeped in history and meticulously maintained by museum staff. Originally named the New York State Building, it hosted the 1901 Pan-American Exposition and continues to host milestone events to remember for generations to come.
Facilities and Capacity
Tappo at the Museum offers an array of magnificent event spaces to celebrate every aspect of the occasion. The Auditorium is a 2906-square-foot conference room that doubles as a spacious get-ready area, while The Board Room is a more intimate meeting room with 440 square feet of space. Couples can host their ceremony in The State Court Room, a soaring, two-story high atrium with 1,900 square feet of floor space. Here, they can exchange vows with a seated audience of up to 120 loved ones, taking a moment to soak up the black marble interiors and stately columns supporting the Mezzanine. After the knot is tied, enter The Portico via the lakeside doors for cocktail hour, taking in views of Delaware Park and Hoyt Lake. This stunning white marble construction pays homage to the Parthenon with ten columns, multiple levels, and a bronze statue of Abraham Lincoln for an American twist. After a refreshing cocktail, the wedding party can prepare for a seated dinner reception in the recently restored Penfold Portico Gallery. This bright, airy space is also suitable for ceremonies, exuding light and warmth with skylights and glass panel doors. A tent can be erected for lavish gatherings, and a dance floor can be placed on the outdoor terraces, which are lush grassy spaces enclosed by marble retaining walls. The second-floor Mezzanine can be combined with The State Court Room to accommodate large-scale dinner parties indoors.
