StillMotion were our cinematographers for our wedding. I knew it would be worth the investment after seeing their work. I wanted an emotional lasting memory that I could show my children about my wedding day.
Patrick and his team did such a phenomenal job with the same day edit they presented at the wedding and they were really fun to work with. You can definitely tell that they care about their work and try to tailor their product to what their clients want. They are insightful, and execution is flawless.
With quality comes a price - they are not cheap, but I maintain that it was the best money I ever spent. Our wedding guests have eaten the food, drank the liquor, the flowers have died, and decor put up and taken down, but this lasting memory is something I can come back to over and over again.

Stillmotion was our wedding vendor and back in late 2008 for photo and video, but video was what we REALLY loved from them. We practically built our whole schedule around them. At the time, their work was AMAZING. We paid for a same day edit+love story film that played at our reception that was phenomenal. But that's when the quality ended from there.
We waited until June 2010 (almost two years) for our highlights and main feature (according to our contract 3-5mins and 20-30mins respectively in length). I didn't want to rush them because we wanted them to take their time for the sake of quality, even though we were almost almost at the two year mark. When we finally got our films, they were NOT the quality we were expecting. The highlights were only 2mins approx. and main feature 15mins in length with significant parts missing (ie. MY PARENTS!) and the music in it, we didn't like or ask for! It was terribly edited in our opinion. Not the quality we were expecting based on demos we were sold on back in 2008. When my wife and I confronted the owners with our dissatisfaction, they said they have changed their style and the missing parts were an honest mistake. For the amount we paid for and the flexibility of time we gave them, it was inexcusable and the errors were inconsistent with with the work they put out in public. It felt like a total BAIT AND SWITCH. What made us more upset was them trying to convince us that a subpar 15min final film (half of what we paid for based on a mutually signed contract) was better than the work we were sold on back in 2008, which was not the case in our opinion. We got handed the "quality vs. quantity" excuse, but got neither in our opinion. And I write "our opinion" because that's what the owners kept repeating back to us when we said the videos were done terribly, "that's your opinion". It just felt really shadey and crooked. Not what we expected from a world class award winning wedding boutique. It's embarrassing for us to admit how much we paid for them.
As it turned out, the majority of their creative staff (cinematographers, admin, interns) experienced major turnovers, whiched explained the severe change in quality. The cinematographers/editors who did our same day edit+love story and who's work we were sold on were no longer there!!! It looked like my film was outsourced by a bush league editor, though the owner claims he did it himself. I guess this is what they meant by "Our style has evolved." I felt insulted we the owner implied our venue was part of the reason why our film didn't look as good as compared to other films they did. It doesn't explain why then our 4min SDE which took less than a day to edit was far superior in quality compared to a 2min highlight montage that took two years to edit.
We were going to ask for our (partial) money back, but decided to give the studio another chance. The redone films were adequate at best, with the bare minimum time (ie. 20min exactly for main feature). Parts of the highlight montage looked like a copy and paste from the main feature. It's like the editor didn't bother trying. We didn't even get HD digital copies. At that point, our relationship/friendship with them completely dissolved. We did get our wedding photos which turned out well, but had to wait a while to save up for the album because we spent so much money on their service already. As a consolation, they did give us hi-res JPGs of our entire photo collection and raw video footage, but it felt less than half-hearted.
My wife and I truly hope no other couples experience the same terrible service with Stillmotion as we have had. We were looking forward to watching our wedding film over and over. Now, I can barely bring myself to watch it. I have not viewed those films since, except our SDE. Our advice if you do deal with Stillmotion, make sure you get what you signed for and what you were sold on!
