Originally built to serve as a dormitory for retired sailors, this Greek Revival landmark on the grounds of Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden had its interior completely renovated in 2015 while keeping the historic exterior intact.
The fully climate-controlled museum is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certified and provides over 18,000 sq. feet of usable space, including galleries, an auditorium, and classroom.
The Staten Island Museum collections include art, science, and natural history. Visitors are invited to explore world art, landscape and seascape paintings, biodiversity, a life sized mastodon replica and galleries of changing exhibitions.
