Lovely venue! Excellent price. As long as you come in during regular business hours the week of you event (and nothing else is going on) you can begin decorating at no additional cost. They also allow you to make payments toward you final price, so you dont have to come up with the whole amount at once. The cathedral has a choice of about 30 back drops you can use for your ceremony (included in your price) they also have sound, lighting and a stagemanager.Sent on 11/11/2009
We had not only our wedding, but our reception on site. This is truely an amazing package all for just under 2 grand. No additional charge for the tables or chairs, they will even set everything up to your specifications. They are also very accommidating as far as what you can do decor wise in the building. You can hang stuff from the chandeliers as long as it is not heavy. They even allowed us to use their ladders. Only restriction, we had to use painters tape to hand decor on walls and woodwork.
Check this place out! It is gorgeous and amazing!!!

This is a beautiful venue that really needs a good cleaning and updating. We found out the month before the wedding that the backdrops had fell and they weren't replacing them at this time. If we hadn't of dropped in to look the place over before everything got crazy, we would of found out the week of the wedding...They had no intention of telling us before. Our only choice was a navy blue or black backdrop curtain... instead of the backdrop that looked like you were in a cathedral. We had to go to the extra expense of renting beautiful arched windows that our dj lit up from behind. This venue has chair lifts on the stairs, but if you are wheelchair bound it is not handicapped accessible. None of the public areas of the building are air conditioned!!! I was not told of this until after the invitations were in the mail. They do provide several "Big Bertha" fans... not enough and they are LOUD. They also told us several times that the "lighting guy" and "sound guy" were each $25. Never told us that was $25 per hour... surprise! At our rehearsal, one of these guys YELLED at our wedding planner that he wasn't going to listen to her, just to the bride. Not professional at all ! Kitchen smells of old grease and our guests that took off their shoes to dance ended up with black greasy feet... as was the bride's hem of her dress. They do let you come back the day after and pickup everything you left, then they clean up for $100. That was a bargain.Sent on 09/21/2011
Scottish Rite Cathedral's reply:Since this review we have updated out sound and backdrop to include a large video screen that can be customized for the event. We apologize that things were not explained clearly in the rental process. We have a new office manager who is willing to help any incoming brides with every aspect of their day.
