Father Michael was officially Catholic ordained as a Roman Catholic priest in 1980 and has been a Catholic priest now for nearly 40 years. He is now part of the Progressive Catholic Church and the Old Catholic Church of North America where he celebrates Mass weekly at the Community of St. Francis for All People in Plainview, NY.

Reverend Michael F. Callahan largely officiates Catholic weddings, but he also officiates a variety of civil and interfaith ceremonies. He co-officiates often with his good friend Cantor David Katz as well as with other with Cantors and Rabbis for Jewish and Catholic interfaith ceremonies. He speaks English & Spanish fluently, and enough French to also officiate for all or part of a ceremony in French.. In addition to his officiant services, this priest offers an optional marital enrichment program known as Prepare & Enrich for couples who are seeking preparation and guidance for their marital journey.
He provides you with outlines, sample materials and options to assist you in planning and personalizing your ceremony, meets with you in person or by video if you are not able to meet in person and is in touch with you as often as you need during the planning stages of your ceremony. He, of course, handles the processing of your marriage license and provides you with the guidance to know how and when to obtain your marriage license.

Father Callahan Was Awesome
Father Callahan officiated at our wedding in December and it was such a pleasure to work with him. He was very helpful, punctual and such a kind speaker. He even arrived earlier. We were blown away by his sermon and it made our Roman Catholic ceremony that much special. Our friends and family were delighted with the father too. They were deeply moved to tears. We're native Spanish speakers and he speaks Spanish fluently and he added a Spanish passage to the ceremony. We can't thank him enough!"
