Ray Vernon Estate was founded by Harry and Bessie Hassinger, who purchased the land in 1939. Spanning 600 acres, they farmed the land with their children, Ray and Glenn. The family’s camp, called the Hassingers’ Shady Rest, was built in 1949 and still stands in the area today. As Ray and Glenn grew into adults, they became employed, got married, and purchased the farm from their parents. The current owners originally had four acres of the farm, and in 2015 they had the opportunity to add several more acres. As a way to honor their legacy, the property is named after the Hassinger’s father, Ray and his brother (Glenn) Vernon.
