From the front porch the elevation provides a spectacular view, sweeping across the potomac river valley to points of interest as far away as Washington DC's National Cathedral . The estate, over 400 acres features a beautiful natural environment with gentle rolling hills, pastures and woodland . We had a fantastic wedding and reception at Merriweather Manor on November 10th! Even though it was a little chilly, the owner Andrew, was very quick to set up heaters and move them around to accommodate guests without us even asking. The property is absolutely breathtaking with a small pond, a few barns, wooden fences, pasture, and rolling hills in the distance. There was a family of deer on the property during the ceremony! We also had the fireplace going inside and a fire pit outside.

The venue is very affordable but there are items that do cost extra so just be aware of that (tent lining, lights outside, patio furniture). With Sunday weddings, which is what I had, many things are thrown in for free whereas you would have to pay extra for a Saturday wedding. We were also able to purchase our own alcohol which helped drastically with the cost.

My only complaints: I do wish I heard back from the vendor sooner when I would email questions. I frequently would have to wait a few days to get a response back. We did hear a few complaints from guests regarding the absence of a lock on the men's restroom door which we had asked the venue to fix beforehand.

All in all, it was a fantastic wedding and we were happy with the venue. Many of our guests said that it was the best wedding they had been to because the Manor was so comfortable and such a unique space.

Merriweather Manor is a unique and beautiful venue. Andrew, the proprietor, takes great pride in maintaining the historical significance of the property, while providing a number of modern amenities (inside bathrooms for guests; outdoor lighting; ready rooms for the bride and groom). We held our ceremony and reception on sight, which was a tremendous convenience for us and our guests. We worked with Andrew and his staff throughout the planning process to choose the options that were right for us- no pressure to add things we didn't want. Andrew also provided excellent recommendations for catering and transportation services. We chose to provide our own music, and their in-house amplification system was great. Our guests loved the sparkler send off and are still raving about their experiences at the Manor. We would recommend this venue to other couples like us who want to get away from the noise of a city and provide their families and friends with a beautiful place to gather together and celebrate!

Our guests are still talking amongst themselves about how amazing the venue was! We couldn't have been happier with our choice of venues for our ceremony and reception. First off, the property is simply stunning, starting from the moment you first see it on the drive in. All of our guests raved about the location. Not only are there beautiful views of the surrounding countryside, but the layout of the space offers a very personal feel. Our guests never felt crowded, and yet it was still very intimate. Andrew and his team do an outstanding job customizing the space to your needs and tastes, which for us meant a wedding that very much felt like "us", rather than some generic ballroom. If you have an idea, Andrew will work hard to make that happen - his first answer to any of our ideas was never "no". The combination of an amazing venue, goregous location, unique features (bison?!), and the ability to make it your own result in a truly magical venue. Only one small thing to note - Andrew (the owner) has a pretty easy going personally. If you're expecting a high strung Type A person (that seems to be pretty common in this industry), you might be in for a surprise. However, make no mistake - he executed everything perfectly, so have no fear. Personally we really enjoyed working with him - he'll try his hardest to pull off whatever you can envision, and his style matched ours. Just a heads up if that's not your style.
