Working with Melissa was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. I originally knew her from high school, so there was already a sense of trust and connection — but even if I had never met her before, I would choose her again in a heartbeat.

From the very beginning, she was professional, communicative, and incredibly thoughtful. Throughout the year leading up to our wedding, she surprised us with little gifts and notes that made us feel cared for and so excited for the big day. That level of intention and personal touch is rare, and it truly set the tone for the experience to come.

Our wedding was a two-day celebration, and she handled everything flawlessly. She captured every moment with ease, creativity, and so much joy — it genuinely felt like having a trusted friend by our side rather than just a vendor. One of the most magical surprises was when she framed photos from the first day of our wedding so we could display them on day two — without us asking or even thinking to request it. That initiative meant the world to us and was a highlight of the weekend.

And the photos? Absolutely stunning. She captured every emotion, every detail, every moment with such artistry. Looking through them feels like reliving our wedding in the most beautiful way.

Melissa was amazing! She captured our day so beautifully. From the moment we first talked with Melissa, she made us feel seen and special. She prioritized understanding the type of photos we wanted, and boy did she deliver! Melissa flawlessly captured the joy, the tears, and the party! We never felt like we spent "too much time taking photos," because Melissa ensured that we got what we needed quickly, so that we could enjoy the festivities and she could get more candid shots (which was exactly what we asked for!). Plus, her Smart Glasses caught incredible BTS footage. You don't want to miss the opportunity to work with Melissa.

Melissa was the lead shooter for our wedding and absolutely the best decision we made! We wanted a talented photographer, but we discovered that Melissa is so much more than that. She thoughtfully went above and beyond her contracted duties every time we interacted with her. The wedding was a few months ago, and I’ve tried unsuccessfully multiple times to adequately review Melissa without writing a novel. So if you don’t have time to read through the details below, then just book her now before some other lucky bride gets her first!

A few specific details: We were a bit nervous for our engagement shoot at the National Gallery of Art. Sometimes our smiles can look stiff and forced, especially during a long photo shoot, but not with Melissa. She suggested many different poses and kept things moving quickly. We appreciated how she accepted our suggestions/ideas, but had hundreds of ideas of her own, taking into account our personalities. She has a gift for quickly getting to know her clients and making them feel comfortable. At the end, the groom commented, “That wasn’t bad at all!”, which is pretty much the highest praise you could get from him regarding a photo shoot. The pictures were phenomenal! They were moody, romantic and classy, and somehow Melissa found the perfect shots that made it look like we had rented the whole museum to ourselves. We expected quality work from her as we’d spent many weeks looking for the right photographer, but we were blown away by how quickly she got to editing our photos! By that evening, she’d already gotten 10-15 pictures back to us! This was such a gift to us. Our engagement shoot was less than 48 hours before the wedding, and as we neared the wedding hour, the weather forecast called for solid, heavy rain. We went to bed that night knowing that if the weather didn’t cooperate on our wedding day, we were completely satisfied with just the handful we’d already seen. This provided the peace of mind we desperately needed! Melissa continued to edit and send us photos throughout the next day. Every picture she added to the online album became our new favorite. We never dreamed that we’d get so many pictures that we truly loved.

Wedding day: First, we appreciated how respectful Melissa was regarding our religious wedding ceremony. We appreciated that she researched our ceremony and communicated with us our expectations regarding the ceremony. And then she was willing to be flexible with timing, trying to maximize the dry parts of the day. In the end, it poured the entire day. Despite the cold rain, Melissa came early, trying to find the best spots to position us for photos, given the rain. And then she stood outside in the freezing rain, risking her cameras, efficiently directing us so we could get out of the rain as quickly as possible. We left the wedding ceremony and drove directly to the wedding dinner and somehow during the time that we spent driving, she managed to get small prints made of the wedding photos to alleviate our fears that the rain had ruined the photos! We couldn’t believe how thoughtful she was. The photos she got at the LDS temple were breathtaking, just like the art gallery photos! Melissa did such a great job capturing the contrast between the rainy, gray skies and the joyful love between bride and groom. Melissa showed up to the wedding dinner with printed and framed photos of the art gallery pictures to add to our sign-in table! Those consistent little touches really set Melissa apart from the rest!


And then, Melissa managed to photograph the wedding dinner in a plain church gym and make it look magical and intimate. She is more than just a talented photographer – she’ll help with timing/scheduling so that you can get the most from your photography investment, and her thoughtfulness and talent really helped to put us at ease on this crazy day. We will be forever grateful to Melissa and will absolutely use her in the future!

Melissa was so awesome for both our engagement and wedding pictures!!! We couldn’t have asked for anything better!! Melissa is warm, engaging, unbelievable at ensuring we were relaxed and comfortable. She, at every twist and turn while planning our wedding, brought the level of calm we do desperately craved. Wedding planning is so very stressful!! We are very grateful for Melissa and our wedding, who we thought was just perfect, captured our special day so wonderfully. We look at our pictures often and reminisce about the day we became husband and wife.

Melissa is an absolutely fantastic wedding photographer! We really can’t emphasize enough how amazing working with her has been. She was incredibly professional and extremely responsive, meeting with us multiple times over the course of about a year to go over our vision for the wedding, working with us through engagement shoots, working around our schedule, etc. And the photos she took were absolutely incredible - we both went over the entire album multiple times, and couldn’t believe how many amazing shots we had to choose from. Both of us were floored at Melissa’s ability to capture very special moments during the ceremony and reception without being obtrusive about it - we had multiple guests mention they didn’t even notice the photos being taken, and some of those pictures ended up being the best of the night!

Melissa’s photos were natural and elegant, and she was such a kind and easygoing person that it made it a real pleasure to work with her. This was one of the best investments we made in our vendors; couldn’t recommend her enough!

There is no way to capture the absolute joy it was to have Melissa capture our wedding. Her love of her art form is evident in everything she does. From the moment she reaches out to you until you receive your final album, her excitement, professionalism, and experience shine through. Melissa is our photographer for life!

Melissa and her assistant made our wedding day so easy. She knew I was anxious about keeping the day going and not being late to anything.

She arrived on time, knew what pictures to get and then made sure we knew when to head out for the venue.

About 2 months before our wedding, she sent a Google form to fill out to get a feel for what kind of poses and group photos we wanted as well as how we saw our day going. This really helped us to think about logistics and timelines as well as what things were really important.

Since the photographer basically is the main person to work with venues and day-of planners to make the day special, I couldn't be happier I chose Melissa.
