History
In 1854, a group of Sea Island Cotton growers from South Carolina settled in Alachua County, then known as Arrendondo. This group, along with Reverend W. J. McCormick, began an established Presbyterian Church known as Kanapaha Church. Since then, the church has endured over 150 years of American history, including the civil war, railroad booms, depressions, and major population shifts throughout America’s development.
