John Louise Weddings is our collaborative dream job, combining our love for making images that evoke real feeling and getting to participate in one of the happiest days of a couple’s life. Yes, we love weddings. We love everything about them. We love the anticipation, the heightened emotions, the fanfare, the grandeur and most of all the love. We love the challenge of grabbing that perfect shot when everything around you is moving and the challenge of creating that perfect portrait that exquisitely captures the essence of a couple’s love. It’s a hard day’s work (usually we’re on our feet for at least 12 hours carrying heavy camera gear), but we love it. And we feel incredibly lucky to get to do it.
Our approach to photographing each wedding we shoot is to observe and take pictures without getting in the way. Often times we hope you don’t even notice us. We’ve heard our work described as honest, and we take that as a compliment. We look for images that capture natural emotions and events because those are usually the ones most meaningful to look back on. Of course we love to take portraits too and we always help coordinate portrait sessions into the day so that everything runs smoothly and you get all the formal images you want to document friends, family and each others fabulous outfits. Our aim is to tell the story of the day in the most beautiful way possible, from the location, to the ceremony to the smallest details to help you remember it all.

My daughter was married on Oct. 1, John+Louise were hired late in the planning process because the photographer that was originally hired had to pull out. From the first contact J+L was amazingly responsive and when I talked with him on the phone, he seemed genuinely excited about the wedding. The wedding day was predictably crazy, and J+L came early to scope out the light and setting, when they returned to do the shots of the bride getting dressed, we noticed them for the first five minutes, then not at all. During the ceremony and the reception they were everywhere, but again never in the forefront. They call themselves the ninja photographers, and I think that is very accurate! They captured the venue, the guests, and the love. Mostly the romance. Looking at the photos is like being at the wedding all over again. Of all the vendors that are hired for a wedding, the food will be eaten, the flowers will wilt, the music will be turned off, but the pictures are forever. And I am so happy with the pictures that my daughter will have forever.Sent on 10/08/2011
I recommend J+L most highly. Thanks J+L!

Anna (Louise) & Dylan (John) were one of the better decisions we made. In addition to being two VERY talented photographers, they manage to actually reduce your wedding day stress by being the proverbial calm in the storm. They made sure to get some of the smaller DIY details and moved gracefully through posed shots with multiple large and complicated families. They manage to be everywhere without ever being in the way. If you are reading this and still looking for photographers - stop and email them, it will be one of the smartest things you do in the whole planning process.Sent on 09/05/2011

John + Louise are the best photographers out there. They made us feel relaxed during the posed shots and seemed invisible during the candids. And they captured all the great moments and tiny details. Our photographs are incredible and everyone who has seen them has been blown away. They are truly artists and we were so lucky to have them document our big day.Sent on 09/04/2011
