Couple & Client
My husband and I got married this past August 2018, and through the launching our new Mediterranean tapas and Neopolitana pizza pop-up Huria's . . . we catered our own wedding! We had a professional team for our special day fire-up our own custom menu (a bit different from our services but available if desired!), and serve our 8 course dinner family style. It was a beautiful woodfired, farm to table fine dining experience just as we had imagined and the way we envision catering for our own clients down the road! We play close attention to all details and only provide the best quality, locally sourced ingredients and house produced dishes. In addition to producing and catering our own food, we were also responsible for all floral decor, printed menus and design, table set-up and design, welcome tables, all wedding planning and production! Depending on your needs, Huria's will be there for you. Experience the woodfired magic!Sent on 11/29/2018
Team of Huria's
With over 10 years experience in the industry and the fast-paced restaurant scene of New York City, Chef Mohaimen Huria is not only passionate when it comes to food and its many subtleties, but is also enriched with a unique understanding of brick oven pizza Napoletana and dishes cooked by the natural flame. Growing up in his sea-bordering hometown of Tripoli, his culinary journey began at an early age of 10; when he learned how to catch octopus on his own and set nets for catching fish overnight from the Mediterranean sea, together with his father and brother. He learned first hand the relationship between life and the food we eat, developing a deep sense of respect for nature and all living creatures; informing his thoughtful approach to cooking and the art of cuisine.
Throughout his teenage years, he learned to prepare locally-sourced dishes rich in flavor; preserving traditional techniques while discovering the modern art of Mediterranean & Middle Eastern cooking. In 2011, he moved from Libya to NYC at 20 years old to pursue and explore his life-long passion and over the span of 6 years, began to work in the restaurant scenes of Brooklyn and Manhattan. From Sicilian-owned family pizzerias to fast paced New American fine dining, Chef Huria learned the ins-and-outs of his trade, acquiring his own artistic language and mastering all of the skill-sets needed from those of a line cook, sous chef to head chef, all while in the highly competitive restaurant industry of New York City.
In addition to working in various restaurants, Chef Huria’s experiences also span to include teaching pizza workshops, hosting private multi-course dining experiences, pop-ups together with his wife in Sonoma County, and most recently, successfully launching and running the mobile woodfired catering business called Huria’s. From New York rooftops to Sonoma County’s wine country, Chef Huria now brings his experience and expertise to a brick-and-mortar of his own in Bodega Bay, CA.
Co-Owner & Sous Chef
Adriana Huria is the co-owner and sous-chef of Huria’s, formerly recognized as a freelance photographer! In addition to working as a photographer, Adriana has an innate passion for the art of food, dining and hosting, and has worked in the restaurant industry since the age of 18. Her connection to food and hospitality pulled her into the restaurant industry, amidst her career in the visual arts; giving her invaluable experience at an early age from working in various, fast-paced restaurants and intimate, upscale bistros in New York City and Miami, FL. She has also received thorough training from Chef Owner Mohaimen Huria and assists in the kitchen for pre-production as needed and for all catering events.
NYC transplant since 2008, Adriana grew up in Miami, FL and moved to the “city that never sleeps” to pursue an education in the arts. She attended and graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York City with honors and a BFA in photography; living and working in Brooklyn for nearly 10 years. In addition to pursuing her own projects, for several years Mrs. Huria exclusively assisted and traveled with the award-winning photographer Andrew Dosunmu on-location and in conjunction with managing his studio and negative archives. She has exhibited her personal work in various group and solo shows, and most recently worked in the photo department at Fast Company magazine. She now brings her experience in photography and design to every aspect of Huria’s; from food stills and portraiture to website design and more. Her portfolio can be viewed at: www.adrianas-studio.com
Raised in a Cuban household where the smells of charred garlic and white rice wafted through the air nightly, and large family gatherings were hosted on the regular; Adriana has always felt a warm connection to both people and the culinary specialties of her homeland; heavily influenced by Spanish, African and Caribbean cuisines. This appreciation naturally led her to love and respect all cuisines of the world, especially that of her husband’s and the Mediterranean. From working in the photo & magazine industries in NYC to working in the service industry in almost every role; her combined experiences have given her the edge and insight needed to run Huria’s successfully together with Mohaimen, just as they always envisioned.
