Forager was the first and only venue we looked at for our October 2018 wedding. Everything was exceptional - the food, the service, and the aesthetics. Marie helped us immensely and referred some excellent vendors. The wedding went seamlessly and I wish I could have attended it as a guest! Perfect for people who want an indoor wedding without a boring ballroom vibe.Sent on 07/01/2020

Wonderful Rustic/ Industrial Space in San Jose
The wedding reception my husband and I had at the Forager is one of our favorite memories. The great service and professionalism of the staff definitely made it so! If you are looking for a rustic/ industrial space for your wedding in the South Bay, I would definitely recommend the Forager.
We booked the venue for our reception (they also do ceremonies and will convert the space for the reception, if you’re interested). As we were planning the wedding by ourselves, we liked how there were a lot of things provided by the Forager (versus us renting out a space and having to source everything on our own), including tables, chairs, food and drinks, plates/ utensils/ glassware, etc., staff (serving food and drinks and helping set up and break down), AND a day-of coordinator (SO important). I want to highlight three other things that made our experience great:
The space is really beautiful: exposed brick and wood beams, string lights, barn doors, a nice patio out in front with plants. In addition, there was an upstairs loft with glass doors that overlooked the space. Between the church ceremony and the wedding reception, our bridal party was able to relax upstairs with some champagne and appetizers. In terms of capacity, our reception had 130 guests, but the space can easily hold 250-300 for a wedding reception.
Food and Drink
Sidenote- it was really important for us to support small/ local/ women and/or minority owned businesses when we could as we were planning the wedding, so we really appreciated how The Forager featured local brewers and sourced their vegetables from Spade and Plow (a local CSA of which we are also members!). The highlight of the space was definitely the bar. The Forager has a rotating tap of beers and all of the beers that they have are local. A few weeks before the wedding, we had a beer tasting with Heinz, one of the partners of the Forager. We were able to choose 6 and went with 4 lighter beers, 1 stout, and 1 sour (my favorite was the Cafe con Leche Stout from Camino Brewing). On the side of the bar, we also had a wine station and served one red and one white (we only had beer and wine, since at the time, they still needed a license to serve hard alcohol. And honestly, just having beer and wine was fine)
The food was amazing. Chef Lee was great to work with. We ended up going with the phyllo-wrapped asparagus, lobster mac and cheese, and pork belly donuts as our appetizers, roasted beets with goat cheese arugula and hearts of romaine with grilled tri-tip as our salads, stout braised short ribs and stewed chicken as our main courses, and oat risotto with mushrooms and lemon roasted brussel sprouts as our sides (yum, right?). The food was served family style (although I think there is an option to do food stations if you want). Chef Lee also provided a nice charcuterie plate for the wedding party while we were waiting in loft for the reception to begin.
Event Planning and Event Management
Working with the Event Staff at the Forager was great. We worked mostly with Marie, the Forager’s Event Manager, and as the wedding drew closer, we also worked with Kindsey and Loretta, who served as the day-of coordinator. These women are absolute PROS. Seriously, they know what they’re doing. You want these women on your team. There are so many small details that go into planning a wedding, and for many people planning their own wedding, you don’t know what you don’t know. You want to feel at ease and taken care of and that is exactly what I felt working with Marie and her team. I’m especially thankful that a day-of coordinator was provided by the Forager (you hear horror stories of brides in their wedding gowns having to direct set up and clean up, and honestly, you really don’t want to deal with that at your wedding). They were really great at communicating and were very responsive. Also, they were all very kind and sweet.
In all, I am so glad that we had our wedding reception at the Forager. The space was beautiful, the food and drinks were great, the staff were the best. We even spent our 1st year anniversary back at the Forager for brunch to reminisce. Thank you, Forager!

My wife and I got married at Forager in March of 2018. We couldn’t have been more happy with the way things turned out. The event staff is responsive, has great suggestions, and is willing to work closely with you. Also, our guests still talk about how good the food was at our wedding to this very day. I would recommend Forager 100%!Sent on 06/12/2020
