Extreme Duality:
In 2001, Tess and Melissa met as doctoral students at Michigan State University and decided to collaborate on a recital. Both members were co-founders of the Mackinac Island Community Foundation Summer Concert Series. This chamber music series has featured the duo for many years, allowing them to experiment with a wide-range of musical styles. After realizing the sonic potential inherent in such an extreme register distribution, they decided to seek more repertoire for the non-traditional pairing. After over a decade of performing in recitals, house concerts, and schools together, Extreme Duality has acquired a large body of music consisting of arrangements of existing works as well as new compositions written specifically for and premiered by them. Extreme Duality was recently featured on the disc Talking In My Sleep: Chamber Music of Murray Gross released on the Blue Griffin Recording label. Extreme Duality hopes to complete their very own CD project in the coming future. For samples of their sound, visit: https://www.facebook.com/ExtremeDuality?ref=hl or http://www.extremeduality.com.
