Entertaining At Home Inc. began as a subsidiary of The Reader's Digest Association, Inc., Pleasantville, New York. As a key element of a larger strategic plan, RDA acquired Reiman Publishing and their flagship magazine, Taste of Home in 2002. In April of 2005 Bill Shaw joined Entertaining At Home, Inc. as President and began the process of founding a new direct selling company as an extension of the brand. The now 52-year-old Shaw came to RDA after a distinguished career in direct sales which included the launch of one of America's most successful party plan companies.
The Company launched with great success in May of 2006 and quickly became one of the industry's big start-up success stories. Over the course of the next eighteen months the Company unveiled several innovative new programs including Performance Tracker, Pathway to Success personal leadership development program, Meeting in a Box and more. Realizing the industry was facing a strategic inflection point with skyrocketing gas prices, inflationary pressure and rising unemployment, Shaw developed Digitaldirecttm the first and only business model built for today's economy. He and wife Robin acquired the Company from Reader's Digest on July 25, 2008 along with good friend and former CEO of Reader's Digest, Eric Schrier and a small group of private investors. Shaw quickly introduced radical changes including purchasing a tank of gas each month for Consultants working the business, offering iPhones, laptop computers and a Company paid hybrid car program. This amazing transformation reflects his commitment to the Company's Consultants and employees. Today, Entertaining At Home has redefined the party plan business in America as more and more smart people are deciding to change their lives by joining our Company in record numbers.
Shaw is highly respected among his industry peers, has served on the Direct Selling Association's Board of Directors and the Direct Selling Education Foundation Board as a Director. Bill is joined by his wife and co-founder Robin Shaw, Executive Vice President. Robin has more than a decade of party plan experience, including serving as President of a direct selling company. Other officers include David Wilkinson, Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Howard Halligan, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer, and Tricia Smith, Vice President of Leadership Development. Together with an experience and dedicated group of managers and employees they are changing lives all across America.
