We engaged them about a year before the wedding, and they helped the whole process feel manageable. They have an incredible system for tracking and planning events; they carry a perfectly organized binder to every meeting, send comprehensive and detailed review emails after each meeting, lay out a clear schedule and process for the entire planning process, etc etc... Details aren't missed; they keep you on track and on budget; they think about tons of details that even a wedding-savvy couple is likely to miss. Weeks before our wedding, Sara provided us with a comprehensive, down-to-the-minute timeline to share with vendors and wedding parties.
The Ella ladies show up to meetings completely prepared and with great energy. In any industry they would be considered top-notch project managers. My husband and I joke that they should take on Portland development, they're so talented!
Once our wedding weekend kicked off on Friday, we didn't worry about a single thing. We had developed such a trusting relationship with Sara and her team that we knew that even if something went sideways, we trusted her to handle it professionally, creatively and quickly. As someone who has been a bridesmaid more times than I can count, I've never encountered another couple who has so completely trusted their planner the way that we did. The whole Ella events team *hustled* for the entire wedding day, but they did it calmly and with huge smiles.
Beyond being incredibly thoughtful and talented, the Ella ladies are just a joy to work with. We'd hire them again in a heartbeat; even if it's just to drink wine on our back porch!

We had a fantastic experience with Jocelyn Arnold as our day-of wedding coordinator for our semi-destination event (we live in Portland, wedding week was in Sisters). Because we had chosen and hired most of our vendors prior to enlisting Ella Events' services we chose to go with a "day-of" coordinator package. However, Jocelyn was extremely helpful and organized throughout the wedding planning process and noted items we didn't even think of. The venue site visit, skype check in meetings, and final pre-wedding meeting with Jocelyn in addition to the monthly checklists and seating software helped to make the remainder of our planning a breeze (it was even a bit enjoyable!). Our wedding day was absolutely perfect (other than the last minute tent rental to avoid a possible downpour); we (and our families) were able to focus on our loved ones and ourselves without worrying about a thing. Our vision for design/setup (dessert, tabletops, floral, etc) came to fruition and looked amazing! Thank you Jocelyn! P.s. We didn't view our wedding day as the be all end all. It was the entire destination long weekend that made it remarkable but our wedding day was one we enjoyed tremendously and will think fondly of thanks to Jocelyn and the vendors we worked with. Regardless, if you can budget for a day-of coordinator, then do so!
The ladies at Ella Events are incredibly talented. We love seeing their work. I had the pleasure of working with Jocelyn from Ella Events at a recent wedding. As a professional who has been in the industry for 10 years, I have worked with many, many wedding coordinators. Jocelyn stood out in her level of organization and communication in the weeks leading up to the wedding day. While this is alway a wonderful quality to bring to the table as a coordinator, it is very rare to find a one that combines such a level of organization with a laid-back, friendly, low-key demeanor. Jocelyn was all of these qualities and more, and I recommend her without reservation.
