Cumberland - where dreams really do come true! What a wonderful place to have a wedding! The view of this property will totally mesmerize your guests while Mother nature’s best engulfs your special day, as every square inch of this property is beyond amazing.Sent on 08/31/2016
Our wedding at Cumberland was not only magically stunning, but truly delightful! We held our ceremony on the front porch of this historical home. By utilizing the front steps, this offered us the opportunity to have that a fairy tale horse and carriage for the bridal entrance every bride dreams of. Our guests were surprised and delighted with oos and ahs as the carriage came up the long drive and approached a statuesque water fountain. A glorious picture in itself!
The property was pristine with the gardens in bloom and everything was absolutely beautiful! Our guests were mesmerized with the grounds and stunning views the entire evening. To this day, guests are still talking about this being the most beautiful wedding they have ever attended and by far the most magnificent venue! This continues to make my heart smile and I want to share my happiness with any future brides that are hoping to make dreams come true!
Our wedding at Cumberland Plantation was more than spectacular, beginning with a carriage ride up the drive and ending in the beautiful honeymoon suite at the end of the evening, with everything in between being nothing but sheer enchantment and a day we will always remember!
The staff at Cumberland is not only in tune with the property and it’s needs, but they were all so very helpful assisting us throughout our special day! They represent Cumberland with grace and professionalism and so easy to work with. Many thanks to Amy, Brenda, Peggy and Dale - all "key players" in helping to make our dreams come true!
Cumberland is an amazing wedding venue for such an exciting day! I highly recommend this venue for any bride looking to have her magical dream come true!

Inspired Events by Kelly was the wedding planner for Caroline Evelyn. We were hired several months out from the wedding day as their wedding planner. The Evelyn's had secured Cumberland Plantation as well as the other vendors. We worked with the property since this was the first wedding that had been held at the venue. At the time Cumberland was not a wedding venue. There were many things that were important to Caroline such as being married on the water, the front steps of the house and the wooden bridge. Cumberland Plantation provides many things to a bride. The plantation is located on the water and driving up the main house is beyond gorgeous...you think you are in the movie Gone with the Wind!!!! We had two major tents that would serve for the cocktail reception and then dinner and dancing. The wedding was for 350 guests and they were all from the New Kent County and Williamsburg area. The owners of the property were guests that evening and they were very gracious. The staff of the property was not easy to work with on a daily basis and the day of but there are new staff members who are wonderful to work with this current year. As a wedding planner my experience is different than a bride and her family. I enjoyed working with everyone especially the Evelyn family!!!! It was a beautiful wedding and many of the photos shared are those from the wedding. We are very fortunate to be the wedding planner for their second First wedding of 2016 and as a wedding venue. We are looking forward to working with the current staff and all the new changes.Sent on 05/06/2016

Plantation & Hospitality Manager (HM) could have a 5 star rating except weddings need certain elements for a venue to be a reliable choice. Here are problems we had with our daughter’s wedding. 1st, we signed a contract for the whole Carriage House (CH), upstairs & down. The night before the wedding, we were told no one was allowed upstairs in the CH. It was filled with furniture, weight equipment, etc. We told staff that our contract was for the whole CH. They removed the items & made it available. Grass in the ceremony location was 4 - 6 in. tall, an unacceptable height for a bridal aisle. Men at the rehearsal volunteered to cut the grass. We offered that to the HM. She told us that the Property Manager said the owner would not allow the grass to be cut any shorter. Parking area grass was worse. A property offered for outdoor weddings should provide a reasonable grass height. The owner supposedly hired parking staff that never showed up. Parking was chaos until the HM threw on a raincoat and went out to manage it. Parking has no light for people leaving the venue after dark. It was a rainy day, which everyone made the best of. Our coordinator requested something to mitigate the puddles forming in the tent behind the CH. Unfortunately, the HM was already handling her job & parking so there was no one to help. Someone put down cardboard. It was tacky, but helped. Earlier this year, we had a ceremony location chosen & had to change it because a permanent bench was added to the very spot. We also had a tent planned for behind the CH including a center dance floor. 3 weeks before the wedding we visited & discovered a brick walkway was added that would interfere with the dance floor. A complete bricking of that area would have been great, but a walkway added, another obstacle. Changes to the property, after ceremony & reception sites were chosen added stress. On a positive note, the property itself is exquisite and the Hospitality Manager is excellent.Sent on 09/11/2017
Cumberland Plantation is a beautiful plantation nestled in New Kent County. Driving up their driveway takes you back in time to the days of "Gone with the Wind"! Inspired Events by Kelly was the wedding planner for their first wedding last June and we will have another first wedding with all the renovations they have done for their couples in June as well. The Carriage House has been built just for weddings and other special events. This is one venue you must see!!!! We love working with the venue!
