Mother of bride
My daughter’s wedding was perfect at the beautiful University Point. Andrew Sulgit the coordinator and his staff were instrumental in making her wedding day fabulous. Planning for approximately 8 months, Andrew was available for us continuous via text, phone calls or emails. He had a staff member at the venue during the wedding just to assist us in any way. The catering service, Aramark, through Concord University was easy to work with and provided various menu options to choose from. The coordinator Tamara Nick was instrumental in eliminating our stress and was in direct contact with us during the planning, the day before and the day of the wedding. Her staff was courteous and attentive to our guest during the entire reception. The architectural design of university point is extraordinary both inside the beautiful chapel and outside along the brick breezeway. The lush green landscaping and the outside balcony all contribute to a picturesque canvas. Our photographer, Melissa Kincaid at Melissakincaidphotos.com was quite impressed with the different elements and picture opportunities that this remarkable venue provide. 100% recommend this venue and their staff. Thank you to all who were involved.Sent on 05/23/2019

Rating this venue is very easy.Sent on 06/22/2019
When you consider the location, food, and customer service, University Point at Concord University was one of the best choices that we could have made. We were very happy with the services that Andrew and the rest of the Concord team provided. They were flexible in planning, professional, and inserted value into every facet of our wedding. Anyone looking for a low-cost high-value location should consider this place. Andrew was great to work with and was always in touch. They truly made our wedding day memorable and pleasant in the face of your stereotypical wedding day woes.
We were able to plan and coordinate with Concord and Andrew from over 300 miles away. The location offers plenty of lodging options in the next couple of towns, including cabins around Pipestem State Park. We were able to coordinate with Brandon's BBQ in Pipestem for the pre-wedding reception for the families. We were also able to find a fun, local professional photographer too(https://www.kristinalynnphoto.net/).
All signs point to this location being a true gem in the heart of southern WV.
Concord University Point's reply:Alex, thanks to you and your wife for choosing University Point for your wedding. As alumni, it is always equally special for us to host your special day at The Campus Beautiful, and we are glad to hear your experience was positive, and the additional great memories were made at Concord University!

Beautiful venue and our wedding went off perfectly (thanks wedding planner), however dealing w/ concord university was atrocious. I, and my new wife, are both physicians and were aghast at our treated by university staff until they found out our occupations, and then their behavior marginally improved.Sent on 06/17/2016
Andrew, student activities and student center director, couldn't have been more offensive or difficult. My wife had made all arrangements by phone/e-mail and when we finally met with him he insulted us repeatedly, tried to change many details we had been promised and was outright rude. Bickering with him brought my wife to the verge of tears and we needed to involve a school vice president to even get Andrew to honor the contract we had digitally signed (deposit already paid)...he even tried to deny us an advertised discount due to my wife is in the army and I am a combat veteran. I have no idea why the university employs this embarrassment.
We were forced to use Aramark catering. Food was delicious, however serving staff were rude, we were not allowed to keep any extra food and the price was way too expensive for food and services. Unfortunately if you are foolish enough to have your wedding at Concord then you will be forced to use Aramark. Also we were forced to hire a security guard because we served alcohol (been & wine). When I pointed out to Andrew the university has campus police, he told me the security guard was to "keep our guests from causing problems,"...our guests consisted of many other professionals to include physicians, accountants, active & prior military and many off-duty police...again, i was shocked at how insulting Andrew was. We were also rushed...I could say so much more but bottom line -> DO NOT HAVE YOUR WEDDING AT CONCORD UNIVERSITY
Concord University Point's reply:We are deeply sorry the experience did not meet the couple's expectations. Institutional policies for weddings changed sometime in between first discussion of Dr. Hall's wedding, and the deposit/finalizing of the details. This did naturally cause some challenges, and we are sorry anywhere that communication broke down, though we tried to satisfy the couple as best we could. We treat every person interested in University Point with dignity and respect, regardless of their vocation. We received positive feedback from their wedding planner, one of the best in the area, and coordinated logistics through her for the majority of the wedding's needs. There were some requests that we simply could not fulfill, such as open flames (candles) and non-distributor-based alcohol being brought in, as we are bound by State Law for safety and policies. This was upsetting to the couple, and for this we do apologize, but we do highly dispute that they were ever treated with anything but respect from our office. The final word we received was one of overall satisfaction with the experience, despite the handful of challenges, so we were saddened to read that this was not the case, and would've been honored to be given the opportunity to make things right, but we were not given this information until after the fact. Since Dr. Hall's wedding, we have facilitated over a dozen weddings, and many more events, all without incident and with a reported high-level of satisfaction from the individuals involved. We hope, like all online reviews, that prospective couple's take this review with a grain-of-salt, and understand that we are here to assist and do everything in our power to make your special day go flawlessly.
Concord University Point is a lovely setting for a wedding. It's nestled against the woods on Concords campus and has a beautiful chapel as well as the banquet facilities all in the same building. It's conveniently located and the staff are very accommodating.
You will not find another location like the Wilkes Chapel of University Point located on the beautiful Concord University Campus. As as Wedding Planner in the Southern part of WV, I highly recommend it to my clients and even to other wedding planners in the area. Please stop by and check out this one of a kind location!
