Cascades at Historic Parks Mill is an event and wedding venue located in Abingdon, Virginia. This beautiful venue offers a tranquil rural setting for couples to make timeless memories surrounded by friends and family. The property was built in 1790, when the land’s steep drop in terrain and river made it ideal as a grist mill. For nearly 230 years, the mill brought cornmeal, flour, molasses, and grits to the area. The rustic lodge, rushing waterfall, and verdant green scenery create a unique and breathtaking backdrop for celebrations of love. Couples are invited to tie the knot at this historic location, which will in turn become a part of their own history.
Facilities and Capacity Cascades at Historic Parks Mill offers serene outdoor spots to exchange vows and hold receptions. These include a deck with Adirondack chairs overlooking the cascades and a large field that leads down to the river. This lawn can be set up with tents for dinner, while a concrete area in front of the mill can accommodate dancing. A fire fit is also available for roasting s’mores and enjoying cocktails with loved ones late into the night. For those who would prefer an indoor celebration, the lodge makes for an atmospheric location. This pavilion features exposed wood beams, a large porch and walkways, and country accents such as a split log table. The building also comes equipped with a catering prep kitchen, bar, and bistro area that are perfect for serving dinner and drinks. Other amenities include a get-ready suite, complete with vintage settees and vanities, and a game room featuring a shuffleboard, foosball table, and dart board.
Services Offered Cascades at Historic Parks Mill offers two wedding packages to accommodate couples with different needs and preferences. Venue Only rental comes with exclusive access to the property, Chiavari chairs for the ceremony, reception tables and chairs, and an overnight stay for two. This option also provides access to the facilities for a rehearsal and full day’s use on the big day. The All Inclusive package adds a wedding coordinator, photographer and videographer, bartenders, catered dinner, and valet parking. Music, décor, flowers, and invitations are also available to create a comprehensive and stress-free experience.

We are the Blankenship Family. The Mill has been a part of our lives since we moved to Abingdon in 2007. We were able to purchase this historic landmark in May 2020. All 5 of us have tried and had a part in renewing and reviving this historic property while maintaining as much of the original property as we could. We are excited to share this unique location and property with others and add their experiences to the ample history of the Mill.
