Callawassie Island Club is a wedding venue on Callawassie Island, South Carolina. The club has a private causeway that allows you to enter their piece of paradise. In the 17th century the Yemassee Indians gave the island its name, which means “calm waters.” Legislator and general, James Hamilton constructed the historic Sugar Mill Ruins on the island. The island transformed over the century from an indigo plantation to a southern playground get-away. Callawassie developed a private community in 1981 that has flourished ever since.

We recently had our wedding at Callawassie Island Club and it was perfect in every way. I wouldnt change one thing about the venue, staff, anything! We hired Maggie to be our "day-of coordinator" and she was FABULOUS! So helpful and always had answers to any questions I asked. Someone spilled red wine on my dress right before the reception and Maggie was next to me with club soda almost immediately. We have also had rave reviews from our guests on the venue, setting, and the FOOD! Hands down the best wedding food I have ever had (and it was MY wedding! How awesome!)!! I strongly suggest hiring Maggie for day of and also strongly suggest the braised boneless beef short ribs (delicious!). The staff was amazing and there is nothing bad i can say at all about having our venue here. If you are considering it at all, DO IT!Sent on 05/08/2017

We had our wedding recently at the Callawassie Island Club and it was absolutely spectacular in every way! We wouldn't of changed one thing about the venue or staff. We hired Maggie to be our "day-of coordinator" and she was FANTASTIC! The staff at the club was absolutely amazing, the exceptional service, excellent Hors d'oeuvres passed during the cocktail hour, as well as the reception small plate selection which was DELICIOUS! Both the ceremony on the lawn and the Cocktail Hour/ Dinner Reception were orchestrated perfectly. Our guests, as well as the photographer and videographer (the grounds that surround the club are exceptional for pictures) were also very impressed with the venue. Weeks after the wedding our guests were still talking about how beautiful the wedding was and how much they enjoyed themselves! If you are considering a venue that is quaint and on the coast, that is situated on the marsh with absolutely beautiful views, then this is the place!Sent on 01/03/2019

We fell in love with Callawassie Island the second we crossed the causeway to tour the venue, and it couldn't have been more perfect for our June wedding! It has all of the beautiful views that you could possibly want for a Low Country wedding, and the staff makes you feel at ease with their experience and Southern hospitality. Maggie was a dream to work with and was happy to help in any way that she could throughout our planning process and on the wedding day. We had a brief period of rain early in the afternoon, but Maggie and her staff helped to calm our stress and slightly adjusted the schedule to make sure everything went perfectly. After the rain passed, the staff quickly cleaned off the chairs so that we could have the outside ceremony of our dreams before going into an incredible reception. The food was delicious, the wait staff and bartenders were friendly and professional, and the clubhouse set up perfectly for us to dance the night away with our guests. Several of our friends and family made comments to us that this was one of their favorite and most beautiful weddings that they had ever attended, and that wouldn't have been the same without Callawassie Island Club! We will forever cherish our memories and pictures from this day and would absolutely pick Callawassie Island again!Sent on 09/26/2018
