The Blue Grass Trust for Historic Preservation, Inc. is a membership-based non-profit 501(c)3 advocate for historic preservation that strives to protect, revitalize and promote the special historic places in our community in order to enhance the quality of life for future generations.
The Blue Grass Trust (BGT) was founded in 1955 by a spirited group of Lexington citizens who were determined to save the John Wesley Hunt residence at 201 North Mill Street in Gratz Park from demolition. This group raised funds to purchase and restore the property, known as Hopemont, the Hunt-Morgan House, to its original 1814 appearance. In 1958, Gratz Park became Lexington's first local historic district. Today, Lexington has fifteen local historic districts, and Hopemont stands as a testament to the beginning of the BGT and the birth of the preservation movement in Central Kentucky.

A perfect experience
We are so thankful we were able to find the Dr. Thomas Hunt Morgan House. It is a historic home in downtown Lexington and a great spot for a wedding. We had our ceremony and reception here and it could have not gone better. Jackson is great to work with and goes above and beyond to make sure that the day is perfect for everyone involved. The outside area is beautiful and there are endless spots for pictures. The inside is spacious enough for a large wedding reception but would also be a great place for something smaller. They have a full kitchen which makes it easier on the caterers. We ended up having our ceremony outside in the beautiful grass area and we would suggest doing this for anyone having a wedding in the fall. It is beautiful. Overall, it was a perfect experience for us and we highly recommend the Dr. Thomas Hunt Morgan House!Sent on 11/06/2020

Wonderful experience, very attentive service, great value.
We chose the Dr Thomas Hunt Morgan House for our daughter’s wedding reception. Our experience was excellent! The space is a lovely historic home with access to the annex and chapel, full kitchen and the beautiful gardens. A photographer’s dream! The gentleman with whom we worked, Jackson, could not possibly have been more accommodating. Would certainly use this place again for an event!Sent on 08/03/2020

I was married at the Hunt-Morgan Home in downtown Lexington, KY. The house is PREFECT for a smaller wedding! The grounds are beautiful in the summer. They have a rose garden in the back with a beautiful fountain. The service I received was wonderful. My family and I were able to look around the house without feeling like we couldn't touch anything! They have a bridal suite upstairs where myself and all 3 bridesmaids got dressed. The only problem is that it is downtown Lexington, so the parking was difficult. Most of the guests had to park a block away and walk. But we were married on a Sunday so the parking was free!!Sent on 05/19/2008
