About the Chef:
Stuart Whalan was born in Dunedin, New Zealand. In 1987, he completed his equivalency of a Bachelors degree at the Culinary Arts Institute in Sydney, Australia. Over the course of the next 10 years Stuart was employed in 5 star hotels and prominent restaurants throughout Sydney, Australia. In 1996, Stuart moved to London where he worked in Michelin star restaurants for the next 9 years serving as the Executive Pastry Chef. In 2004, he secured employment in Hong Kong as the Executive Pastry Chef at the U.S. owned 5 star JW Marriott Hotel where he stayed for a year and a half until his visa was finalized for his career in the United States. In 2005, he was transferred to Miami, Florida to serve as the Executive Pastry Chef for The Ritz Carlton Hotel in South Beach. This is where he is presently employed and continues his creativity and technical skills in custom wedding cakes and tapas style dessert receptions. His passion has now inspired him to take the next step and share his vision of succulent creations with the local connoisseurs of South Beach, where he now, permanently calls his home.
