We are blessed not only with the love and support of friends and family, but also with financial resources to obtain the material things in life we need (and want!). For our wedding registry, we would like to ask that you consider making a contribution to one of two very important organizations that are very dear to our hearts.
Human Rights Campaign: HRC is the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered civil rights organization. Based in Washington D.C., it mission is to inspire and engage all Americans to end discrimination against LGBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all. We have been financial supporters of HRC for many years, and Henry has served on its Board of Directors for nearly a decade, serving as it board Co-chair for two years. We are passionate about the work that HRC does to achieve full equality for all Americans, including gay Americans. HRC was instrumental in the fight to obtain Marriage Equality in New York State, without which our wedding weekend would not have been possible. To make a contribution, check out our personal page on their site!
The Fire Island Pines Property Owners Association Charitable Foundation: Bob began coming to Fire Island with his late parents, Ernie and Adeline, his younger brother Jim, and several other families from Long Island where they grew up, many of which Bob and Jim still today refer to as their aunts and uncles. While the family did not typically travel to The Pines, Bob always dreamed of owning a home there some day. Simply put, our weekend lives in the Pines are a joy for Henry and a dream come true for Bob. FIPPOA is the homeowners association that is a quasi-governmental body overseeing the community and its homeowners. Henry has had the privilege of serving on the board the past two years. To make a contribution to FIPPOA’s charitable foundation, please make checks payable to the FIPPOA Charitable Foundation and mail to FIPPOA, c/o Ken Pollard at PO Box 5305, Fire Island Pines, NY 11782. Please indicate that this is in honor of our wedding.
Finally, if any of our guests insist on the material side of life, Bob and Henry are planning a honeymoon to India in December. If you would like to contribute to any of the excursions or activities we have planned, you can check out our page on Honeyfund.
