Tyler & Ryan November 17 New Orleans, Louisiana ~~~~~~~~ Q & A with the Bride: What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one? We really wanted to get married outside and have an outdoor reception. The Elms Mansion gave us both, as well as an elegant atmosphere. Everything about the venue is picturesque, starting with its location on the oak lined St. Charles Avenue. Which details from your wedding were your favorites?
If you could offer one piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding, what would it be? Stay true to your vision for the event. We wanted a small, intimate ceremony and reception with only close friends and family. We had around 160 guests and knew every face. We truly enjoyed ourselves visiting and catching up with our loved ones. We spent the night doing exactly what we wanted….dancing and laughing! Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about. At the end of the night, the band led a New Orleans second line around the courtyard and over to our getaway car. Most of the guests were still there singing and dancing in the second line and waiving their handkerchiefs in the air.

If you’re a fan of celebrity weddings, you’re in luck – there are so many engaged stars, it’s hard to keep track. While most celebs usually keep their wedding details on the hush-hush, we thought it would be fun to spend some time this week speculating what their nuptials will be like. But first, we want to know which celeb you’re most excited to see wed. So tell us: Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll. The post Which Celebrity Wedding Would You Like to Attend? appeared first on WeddingWire: The Blog. Leli & Tom August 11 Boston, Massachusetts ~~~~~~~~ Q & A with the Bride: Which three details from your wedding were your favorites? The flowers, for sure – especially the tall floral arrangements on the stage. We loved how the decorations at the ceremony came out, especially seeing my florist adding her arrangements and pew flowers that I could only try and picture in my head during the planning process. They complimented the background decorations of the paper flowers so well. It was even better than what I imaged. Seeing all the time spent and decision-making come together for the first time as I was walking down the aisle just made it feel that more special. Also, the bridal and bridesmaid bouquets – they were so much more than what I expected and were the perfect arrangement and feel of what I wanted. Our paper suite designed by our graphic designer, especially the programs. We had a lot of information to fit and going through a number of revisions to get it to what it became was time well spent. The hanging purple, lilac, and white paper flowers we got from Luna Bazaar. They were one of my favorite decorating pieces that were placed on the background of the stage and the wall behind our welcoming table. They were the unique piece I was looking for and matched my colors to my wedding perfectly! It’s also a tie with our candy table. It’s one of the fun things we really wanted to have at our wedding – candy and snacks that my husband and I love and wanted to share with our guests. Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about. For me, it’s really hard to pick one. One of the moments I can’t stop thinking about would have to be the morning when I was getting ready and one of my bridesmaids gave me a card from Tom. I was so surprised since we agreed we weren’t going to do bride/groom gifts. What he said to me in that card was so moving it brought me to tears and even though I had already did my make-up, was in my dress, it didn’t matter. I was so moved by it I couldn’t hold back the tears from coming. The other was the moment the doors opened and I turned to walk down the aisle. Seeing the sanctuary filled with family and friends, all the decorations, seeing “the light” at the end of the aisle of my husband looking down at me, it was hard not to feel the overwhelming emotions that filled me at that sight and the moment I had been waiting for – walking down the aisle on my wedding day to marry the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I actually asked my husband what his moment was as well. He had two: One is when they opened the door and I first saw Leli. The other is when I went to greet people before the wedding started and I saw how many people were there and them coming up and congratulating me. That’s when it hit me that everyone there were there for us, to celebrate with us because of the love they had for us. There were people I haven’t seen in a couple of years due to the fact that they lived so far away and they took the time out of their schedules and money to travel just to witness us getting married. Given yesterday’s tragic events in Oklahoma, we wanted to take a moment to encourage you to consider adding a charitable element to your wedding day celebration. Whether you ask guests to make a donation on your behalf or make a donation yourself in lieu of favors, it’s a good idea to start your marriage off on a generous and charitable note. We recommend letting guests know about any donations with a small sign – either on each table or near the escort cards. You can also put a note in your ceremony program if you so desire. If you’re specifically looking to respond to the Oklahoma tragedy, here are a few organizations that are worth looking into: Central Oklahoma Humane Society Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief Are you planning on including a charitable element to your wedding day? Tell us about it in the comments!

Kara & Ryan August 27 Colorado Springs, Colorado ~~~~~~~~ From the photographer: “Kara and Ryan’s wedding was held at one of my favorite venues in Colorado Springs, the Garden of the Gods Club. With not a cloud in the sky, the weather was absolutely beautiful that day for their outdoor unity sand ceremony. Friends and family flocked from all over the country to celebrate their marriage. Everything about their day couldn’t have been more perfect, from the majestic mountain backdrop to the The Briar Rose String Quartet who played during their ceremony. The eight-piece Diamond Orchestra made the reception a sensation. Karol Peat of Willows n’ Weeds crafted a gorgeous bouquet complete with a small photo pendant honoring Kara’s sister.” -Stephanie Brauer Photography The post Summer Scenic Mountain Colorado Wedding appeared first on WeddingWire: The Blog. Post Sponsored by Allure Bridals When you’re shopping for a wedding gown, you obviously should choose a style that fits and flatters your figure, but it’s also so important to think about the season when your wedding will take place. You’re going to be in your gown for the whole day, so you certainly want to feel comfortable and confident. We selected an ideal gown for each season from Allure Bridals and shared some of our top tips for finding a seasonally-appropriate wedding dress.
Spring: We love the look of lace for a spring wedding – it’s so romantic, and the floral motif feels so apropos when everything is in bloom. Allure Couture Style C265 (pictured top, left), features lace throughout, a crystal sash for some added glam, and - 0ur favorite detail – a tiered, ruffled skirt that moves beautifully in the springtime breeze. Summer: When it’s hot outside, think lightweight fabrics, like chiffon, which will keep you cool and comfortable. Allure Bridals’ Style 9057 (top, right) is ideal for a summer wedding – and we love how versatile it is. It’s ethereal and airy silhouette would look gorgeous at an outdoor wedding on the beach, but it’s sparkly embroidery and beading keeps it formal enough for a ballroom wedding. Fall: For fall, we often hear the words “rustic” and “natural” when it comes to gowns, but we think that vintage glamour fits the season just as well. Allure Couture’s C264 (bottom, left) features leaf-and-vine-themed beaded embroidery (so ideal!) and a flattering v-neckline. Plus, the English net fabrication keeps this slip dress lightweight enough for those warmer early-fall days. Winter: Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you need to wear a gown with sleeves (you can always don a fur wrap for outdoor photos – so chic!). We love how the silvery crystal and pearl beading on Allure Couture’s Style C271 (bottom right) resembles falling snow. And the illusion neckline provides a bit more coverage than a strapless gown. How does your gown fit your wedding season? Tell us in the comments! The post Choosing a Dress For Your Wedding Season appeared first on WeddingWire: The Blog. Kristen & Michael April 27 Cleburne, Texas ~~~~~~~~ Q & A with the Bride: 1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one? It was the beautiful setting with an amazing rustic, elegant barn that matched what I had always envisioned for my wedding. I did not think I would find something like that in the North Texas area. There were also two details that sealed the deal for us though. The first was the owner’s story. We loved the heart behind why they created this venue, and I loved hearing the story directly from Ann, who answered my phone call herself one morning. The second was that they actually had an available day in April! Because our engagement was so short, most venues laughed at me when I said that I was looking for dates available in April 2013 and not 2014. We had prayed for God to provide us a venue, and we knew He had provided in abundance when we found Thistle Springs! 2. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites? The first would be the handmade decorations by my father and mother. My father made the wooden cake stand, and the flower box used on the head table. I burned the writing on them. My mom created the window that had a scripture painted on it with pictures of Michael and I. He also handcrafted a wine box with a key/lock and engraved initials. In it we put love letters in to each other for our “first fight” to remind us of the deep love we truly have for one another. He handpicked the wood he used with knots and imperfections as a symbol of how real life and love is, imperfect yet beautiful! The second thing would be the table decorations. The “thank you” cards on the plates with the “to do” list on the back were cute. I LOVED picking out all the different lanterns that were the center pieces. It was the first decision I made on decorations. I wanted lanterns because they were a symbol to me of what Michael and I wanted our marriage to be. We want to have a marriage that honors God and is and light/example of His love for the world to see. The third thing would be the floating wish/prayer lantern send off at the end of the night. It was beautiful! Every family got to take one home as their gift so that they could choose their own special time to celebrate with a floating lantern together. I wrote a little poem explaining it. It was fun. 3. Give us the one moment from your wedding you can’t stop thinking about. Michael and I lighting our floating lantern, letting it go together and then watching all the glowing lanterns float into the sky right before we left. It was BEAUTIFUL!
