Our Wedding Website

Dear Family and Friends,

We have news that we would like to share with everyone. As you all know, Jessica and I will be getting married on June 9, 2012. Through a lot prayer we have decided to spend our first year of marriage on the mission field in Port-au-Prince, Haiti! We both share a love for missions and serving others. What better way to do that than in Haiti?!? A couple in Jessica’s family, the Salvants, is on the board of directors for an organization called New Hope Haiti Mission or NHHM. NHHM is a non-profit Christian ministry that serves the country of Haiti through orphan care, church planting, discipleship, and community development. Founded in 2000 NHHM has been committed to and cared for 23 precious Haitian children ranging from 3-15 years old.

The Salvant family moved down to Haiti in October of 2011. April, Scott and their five children will be living there for 3 years. Through many Skype conversations and much prayer, the Salvant family offered us an amazing opportunity that we just could not turn down. They have asked us to come to Haiti to help home school their children, teach ESL (English as a Second Language) classes at the orphanage/help out at the orphanage, and to help out in any way we can in the community. So not only do we get to serve the Haitian community, we also get the privilege to serve missionaries as well. God has answered our prayers more than we could ever imagine, and we are so excited for this amazing opportunity.

But that’s not all the great news… The Salvants will be providing housing for us for the year that we will be living in Haiti and not just any housing. We will be living in a beautiful little house on the property directly behind them. Seriously, how blessed are we? God is so good, and we couldn’t be anymore thankful.

We are 100% certain that God has called us to Haiti to serve Him. We know that the Lord has so many amazing things in store for us, and we are very excited for the challenge and this opportunity. We will be leaving for Haiti on August 4, 2012. We would like to ask our family and friends to first and foremost come along side us in prayer. Below are specific ways that you can pray for us:

  • Pray that learning a new language will come easily for us.
  • Pray that the transition to Haiti will go smoothly.
  • Pray that God will prepare our hearts, minds, and souls for what we will encounter in Haiti.
  • Pray that Jessica and I will keep our eyes on what is above.
  • Pray that everything we do will reflect the heart of Jesus Christ.
  • Pray for our health and safety while we are there.
  • Pray for the Salvant family (Scott, April, Jadon, David, Jeff, Caroline, and McKenna).

Lastly, we would like to ask you, if you feel led by the Lord, to come alongside us financially. We need to raise around $10,000 for the year that we will be living in Haiti. Our housing will be provided, but we will be responsible for our food, transportation, and school supplies while there. Any amount is greatly appreciated. If you would like, you can also support us monthly. We have set up a separate bank account for our mission work. You can mail a check or cash to the following address:

Along with prayers and financial support, we also need supplies for Russell and I, the Salvant family, and the orphans in Haiti. Below is a list of the supplies that we will need while we are there. Thank you all for everything that you have done in both of our lives. You have all played a vital role, and we wouldn’t be where we are today without you. We can’t think you enough for your support whether it’s through prayer and/or financially. All the help is greatly appreciated. We are so excited to begin this journey, and we hope you will join and be a part of it with us! God bless.

We love you all,

Jessica and Russell
