Ben and Leslie both graduated college with Computer Science degrees in the spring of 2005.  By the time fall came around, they were both starting their first jobs working for Albemarle County Public Schools' Office of Technology.  Ben started as a Technology Support Specialist rescuing many teachers, students, and central office staff from their computer woes while Leslie began as a Help Desk Associate answering calls from all over the school division. Soon Leslie grew bored with the help desk position and wanted to do more.  She was promoted to Technology Support Specialist but had ALOT to learn.  Lucky for her, Ben was a great teacher!

As Ben began to teach Leslie the keys to success as a Technology Support Specialist, their friendship blossomed and they realized they had many similar interests.  For example, they were both fans of the Transformers cartoon as kids and so Ben loaned the original animated movie to Leslie to watch.  When Leslie borrowed one of Ben's favorite graphic novels, The Ghost in the Shell, Ben realized that Leslie might be the nerd of his dreams!

On Thursday, June 22nd, 2006, Ben and Leslie had been working all week at Albemarle County School's annual Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction conference held at the end of every school year.  After a long day of teamwork, Ben and Leslie got out early and decided to meet up for a drink at Charlottesville's South Street Brewery.  Three hours later and after a couple of Satan's Ponys each, Leslie confessed that she wanted Ben to be more than just her coworker and friend.  After Ben accepted what he now refers to as "an offer he couldn't refuse", he asked if he could kiss Leslie outside of the restaurant.  After that first kiss, Leslie knew she'd found her nerd in shining armor and the man she would eventually marry!
