Powell Gardens was a beautiful location for a wedding ceremony and reception! The cost seems a little high initially (you are also required to book catering there)but taking into consideration the fact that guests do not have to travel from a church to a seperate location for the reception, they provide the set up and clean up at the chapel and reception, and the setting is so beautiful that the only flowers that we had were the bridal party flowers and it was still amazingly beautiful, it was well worth the cost! It was pretty hassle and stress free! The rental coordinators will help you through the process and pretty much hold your hand the whole way through! Sam was an amazing help and always promptly returned my calls and readily and pleasantly answered any and all of my questions! On our wedding night, one of the heals on my shoe broke and we couldn't fix it. One of the wedding coordiators, Andrea, that was there to make sure everthing goes smoothly, took off her healed (white) sandles and offered for me to wear them for the rest of the night! She put on some flip flops! She told me to just leave them at the reception before we left! I was so grateful to her kindness, I will never forget that! THAT is service, my friend! We highly recommend Powell Gardens! The cost below is for the chapel, Grand Hall for reception and catering. Powell Gardens responded with the the following comments: Sherri, you are the best. We were blessed to find Mary and Joel after a bad experience with our first choice of photographer. They were so cool to work with and they made it so easy to stand in front of a camera! Both my husband and I don't really like getting our picture take so we were afraid it would feel awkward and uncomfortable. Mary and Joel just engage you in conversation and you don't even realize they are taking your picture half the time! The pictures themselves are so cool because they capture moments and expression that are truely you! No cutesy poses by the tree with his hand on your shoulder or the traditional poses. REAL moments which were priceless to us! They got my crinkled nose laugh and James giving me that "your crazy, woman" look with one eyebrow raised! Those show our true personalities and are our favorites! They catch the moments that you have together when you think the camera's not pointing at you and no one see's. I am sure that if it is the traditional pictures that you are going for, Mary and Joel are the ones to do the best job too! Thanks Mary and Joel for the best pictures for the best time in our lives!
Bridget with Ornamental Petal was amazing! She was very flexible and was willing to work within our (small) budget which was also very important to us! I am not a very creative person and couldn't invision what I wanted or what it would look like when we discussed what we wanted. Bridget, on the other hand, could! I could tell by her experssion she saw it very vividly in her mind and she basically took everyhthing I said and put it all together, better than I could have imagined myself! The flowers were amazingly beautiful and fresh and she made these amazing wraps to go around the stems! The men in our wedding are "MEN" and didn't want anything "feminine." She pulled that off wonderfully too! She even used this cool wire to hold the bouteneers together! We were having pictures taken outside during the hottest part of the day and she made sure to use flowers that would not "melt" in the heat. Before we left for our honeymoon, I put my bouquet in a vase with some water and a week later it is still beautiful! VERY HIGHLY recommend Bridget at Ornamental Petal!!! Thanks girl!
My bridal gown was purchased off the rack, it fit perfectly and didn't need any alterations. My bridesmaids dresses, on the other hand, was a different story. When they came in, two of the dresses were the wrong color. We had ordered two tops to be white with blue piping and two tops to be blue with white piping. Instead we got 4 blue tops with white piping. It was tolerable because at least they all matched, but they were not what I wanted or what I had ordered. The owner of the shop was very insensitive to the situation and said "well, can't do anything about it now, it's too late!" The wedding was in two weeks and there wouldn't be enough time to get new ones ordered, made and shipped back in time. I am a pretty easy going person, but her lack of sensitivity and willingness to try to correct of compensate somehow was very upsetting and frustrating. All the dresses were beautiful but if you go by the quality of service and responsiveness, I would not recommend this vendor.
Andy did a great job in keeping everthing moving for us and played some great music! My favorite part was the garder toss! My Husband is a big Star Wars fan and Andy picked up on that from the best man toast and asked me what song I wanted played while he was taking of the garder. He suggested the song from The Empire Strikes Back and it was perfect! My husband was so suprised and pleased that it made the moment! Thanks Andy!
