Choosing Nellie's Catering was a no-brainer after the first time we sat down and talked with them. The staff is incredibly nice and down to earth. They are not froo-froo people, but they made sure that every detail of our wedding and reception was covered. Fredda was always very calm and reassuring when we spoke. She was full of suggestions and accommodating of my schedule. Dwight was assigned to manage our big day and he too was competent and took control of all the details.
Their prices are very affordable and they gladly offered up advice on how we could cut expenses. The food was extremely delicious. Even my grandmother (who is notoriously picky) devoured her plate. The vegetarians in the bunch were also pleased with their meals.
It rained the day of our wedding (scheduled as an outdoor ceremony), but Nellie's staff handled everything expertly and set up an area inside for the ceremony. It wasn't what I'd wished for, but it was wonderful nonetheless. They were extremely courteous with the guests and saw to everyone's needs.
Hiring Nellie's was the best choice by far that we made for our wedding.
We were thrilled to have Horatio as our photographer. He did a great job taking tons of pictures and was extremely upbeat on our wedding day. Afterwards, it was out of sight, out of mind. We have had the most difficult time getting responses to our emails. We were married at the end of August and it was January before we received the DVD with our photos. It is mid-May and we still have not received a storybook nor does it appear that we will. It is extremely upsetting as we now have to look elsewhere to get the book produced and forfeit the supposed $200 credit towards a storybook that was included with our contract.
Horatio took some great photos and we do not feel that our money was totally wasted, but we are terribly discouraged by the way we have been ignored. Studio Four Photography responded with the the following comments: Dear Briana, It's sad to see that you spend the time to leave this unfair review, instead of telling us once and for all what kind of book you want. Veronica has emailed you countless times asking if you want the 20 or 24 page book. She cannot start designing the book until you respond. Please let us know. We put a lot of work, effort and passion into your event and we'd like to finalize the book. Let us know please. H
The representatives at Beneva were always very responsive. They helped up select the right flowers for the colors we wanted. The contract was detailed and updated within a day of making changes.
I was not satisfied with the size of the bouquets they provided. For the bride's bouquet, invoiced at $100, they initially gave me a dozen rose. After we complained, the attendant tried to explain that the size was appropriate for the cost. Yeah, right. 12 roses! She did add more flowers, but there were no extras to beef up the bridesmaids bouquets unfortunately.
Lesson learned - ask for a representative example or to see the bouquet before the wedding day if possible. Maybe they assumed that because I wasn't hovering around that I didn't care.
The flowers for the cake were amazing. I was also very impressed with the flower arrangements that they did for the altar.
We were completely satisfied with the videography services of Imely. Tibor was extremely professional and laid back. I barely remember when they were around during the festivities. The video was delivered within the expected timeframe and the footage is brilliantly edited. We also got quick service when ordering additional copies.

It's nice to see that all the other reviewers had a great experience. I, however, did not. A couple of days before my wedding, I called Linda about adding an updo for one of my bridesmaids to her service. She said that was okay, but we would have to be at the location two hours earlier than she originally planned. I thought this was unusual and specifically asked if she meant that all of us, not just the lady getting the updo, would have to be there two hours earlier. She said yes, because once they start working they want to have everyone there so that when they finish with one person, they can start on the next. I was still skeptical but agreed. The day of the wedding, I was angry because we were at the location way earlier than we needed to be and it took her all of 20 minutes to do my bridesmaid's up-do. She asked me why I was upset and I told her that I thought it was ridiculous that we were there so early, then she claimed that she never said we all had to be there and chocked it up to a miscommunication.
I wasn't surprised at all to find out that she had another wedding after mine and the bride had requested that she show up earlier. That later came out while she was talking virtually non-stop while doing our make-up. She soon dashed off to go attend to the other bride. I never saw the complimentary lip-gloss that is promised on her website. I had to use my own (which I thankfully brought with me) for touch ups later in the day. Neither did I see any false eyelashes even though she told me over the phone that she would apply these to myself and the bridesmaids.
Linda and her assistant, also named Linda, are nice ladies but I was looking forward to spending time with my bridesmaids who all live in different parts of the country. Instead, I was stuck listening to their conversations and any effort to start conversation of my own was promptly overtaken by one of them. Linda, the assistant, even requested that I turn the music down that I had playing to set the mood for my big day. So much for my happiness.
I take nothing away from the make up that Linda did, I looked stunning. Maybe I am the one in a million customer who they just don't seem to please, but I really felt that I got second class treatment.
A Victorian Bride Hair & Makeup Design Team-On location! responded with the the following comments: Dear Brianna, Thank you for your review. So sorry that you felt you did not have a good experience with us. I cannot agree with the acuracy of what your review describes on your wedding day, but I will tell you that you knew up front, that we had another wedding booked when you booked your event wth me, also per your photographer's request after speaking to him, we moved your start time up so he could start your pix at 2:30 not 3:00pm as originally planned. I needed to be at my other wedding by at least 3:30pm to start, and your ceremony was at 4:00pm. I agree that you did look stunning for your wedding, and that is what our goal was to make you look beautiful for your wedding and according to you and your pictures we did just that! If we did a terrible job on your hair & makeup, or were late arriving, or worse yet, did not show up at all, then we would have deserved this very jaded review from you, but, such was not the case and your photographs prove it! I cannot believe that you waited a whole year from your wedding date of 8-30-08 to say anything about this to me. I could have done something for you if you contacted me a week after the wedding. I do not think that chastising Linda (my assistant) and I a year later on Wedding Wire site and to the World Wide Web is really fair. All the best to you, Linda, A Victorian Bride Hair & Makeup Design Team.
