Behind the Movie Studios at Las Colinas is another building called Showbusiness Studios. Inside it's very art deco with antique street lamp lighting and a black and white checkered dance floor. Don Ross Nab and Michael Carroll went out of their way to customize our wedding reception for us, right down to a creative station menu including a gourmet macaroni and cheese station and hand-dipped ice cream bars. They have several linen packages to choose from - we went with black linens with white chairs for a very modern look. The dance floor is surrounded by white leather lounge furniture which allows your guests to get comfortable and enjoy the party even if they don't particularly feel like dancing. Two months later, our guests are still talking about how my reception was the most fun they've ever attended.
I will add that it is sometimes difficult to get a hold of someone when you have a question, but if you just have faith - these guys know what they are doing and they totally pulled through for us in the end and more than exceded our expectations.
Oak Lawn United Methodist Church is one of the most beautiful venues in Dallas to have a wedding. The church itself is historical and gorgeous - from the pipe organ to the magnificent stained glass windows. It's also in a great location - right off of I-35 and Oak Lawn and convenient to many reception sites.
The staff were very easy to work with. Pastor Derrick worked with us on customizing our ceremony and allowed us to have a custom-written reading and secular music, as well as have part of the ceremony performed by a friend of ours.
All I can say is WOW. We got our proofs back a couple of weeks ago and were simply blown away. Everyone who has seen them has told us they are the most incredible wedding photos they've ever seen. Pick any photo at random and it looks like it came straight out of a wedding magazine.
Joe and Stephanie are two of the nicests people you will work with. They are quiet, with discerning eyes and warm personalities. They lack some of the big egos I've come across when meeting with other photographers. They also have great versatility - they shoot great studio and outdoor portraits. But the reason I hired them was because of their amazing candids. They will capture the emotion of your wedding day unlike any other photographer. The teary eyed hug my sister in law gave my husband immediately after the ceremony, the mischevious grin I flashed at my girlfriends before I threw the bouquet, the emotion on my groom's face during our last dance of the night - they caught it all. I would recommend these photographers to anyone - it'll be one of the best decisions you make during your planning process!
Kerrie did a simply amazing job with my flowers! I had a very specific idea for my centerpieces and bridesmaids bouquets (green spider mums, black ribbon, and lots of it!) - and I'll add that their quote for these items was extremely competitive! But for my bridal bouquet I had a much less specific idea - I just knew I wanted lots of bright colors and that I liked dahlias. Kerrie made the most unique, exquisite bouquet - like nothing I'd ever seen before. It made me so glad I gave them creative control and didn't ask them to replicate a photo of something else! I got so many compliments and would hire them again in a heartbeat. PS - My photos are in the header of their blog if you want to see the bouquet I'm talking about. Gorgeous (if I do say so myself!)
Becky is so sweet and so talented, and so reasonably priced! Look no further for your alterations or custom dress needs! My dress fit like a glove and she made the most beautiful bustle for it. She also taught me how to walk in my dress and my MOH how to tie up the corset and bustle for me. The care in her brides and her work really shows.
We hired Paul Andrews because he comes highly recommended from local wedding planners and because he offered a 'music video' package which was perfect for us. He was extremely flexible and accomodating to our requests. We had him play several videos we supplied prior to the toasts, as well as a slideshow during the first dance, before he kicked off open dancing complete with music videos as a backdrop.
There were a couple of mishaps though. He played the wrong father/daughter and mother/son dances which was very dissapointing. My dad and I danced to whatever song he played, and later I regretted not asking for a do-over because the song we had originally chosen was very special to us, and I couldn't really enjoy the moment because I was so frazzled about it being the wrong song. My husband and his mother stood by until Paul got the right song going, so it was just several minutes of awkwardness while everyone waited.
Paul also played some songs I requested he didn't (YMCA) and neglected to play some of our must plays (how can you have music videos and not play thriller???). He also cleared the dance floor once by busting out Tom Petty's "Free Falling" - totally undanceable music. So these things were somewhat frustrating. But for the other 90% of the time, he played great tunes and had the dance floor packed, and two months later my guests are still talkinga bout how my wedding is the most fun they've ever attended. And Paul definitely contributed to that. So I recommend him with reservations - just make sure you go over your play list and 'do not play' lists very carefully ahead of time!

The Haute Facade team did an amazing job on my hair and makeup - as well as my bridesmaids, ceremony reader, and moms! Everyone looked stylish and pretty, and as for me - wow. I'm still just amazed when I look at my photos at how gorgeous they made me look, and how perfectly they captured the look I was going for and my personality. These girls really know their stuff!

Stephanie was the lead artist for my Dallas, TX wedding. I'm still just amazed when I look at my photos at how gorgeous she made me look, and how perfectly she captured the look I was going for that perfectly fit my personality. The Haute Facade team did an amazing job on the wedding day hair and makeup for myself as well as my bridesmaids, ceremony reader, and moms! Everyone looked SO stylish and pretty. The photos taken of these girls at my wedding were the best photos EVER taken of these girls because their hair and makeup looked so fantastic! I was so glad because I invested a good deal of money in my photographer, which really would have been wasted had I not also invested in a good hair/makeup artist.
Hiring Jen for my day-of coordination was one of the best decisions I made during my planning! She was incredibly thorough in our pre-planning meetings, keeping track of minute details I would have never even considered. As for the wedding day, all I can tell you is that I had nothing to concern myself with other than having fun with my bridesmaids and getting pretty! Every other detail was handled and if anything went wrong I never knew about it. Jen stuck around til the very end and made sure my gifts were transported back to a BM's house, the centerpieces collected, and the left over liquor packed up. Thank goodness because the last thing I would have wanted to do would have been to entrust those tasks to a drunken friend or relative! Oh, her prices are also REALLY reasonable!
