Hudson Gardens provided a beautiful backdrop for our summer afternoon wedding. We chose a Friday daytime slot, which made the cost to book the venue very affordable compared to all other venues we considered. The Inn was an ideal place to do an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception. The air conditioning in the Inn was a huge relief for our guests on a hot July day. The Inn is also a great choice if you want an outdoor wedding with a little privacy -- it is set apart from the rest of the gardens and feels more intimate.
The on-site event coordinator, Penny, was great. She talked us through all the details of the event and answered all our questions.
We could not have asked for a better setting -- the photos look amazing with the mountains in the background, and the flowers, trees and fountains all around the gardens.
Diane and Amy were so great. They were by far the most responsive of the caterers we considered and interviewed, and they provided great food at a great price. Their estimate was significantly lower than many other caterers we looked at (I received estimates from 15 caterers), but the service and food they provided was exceptional.
Their crew handled the set-up and breakdown beautifully. I was amazed at how quickly and efficiently they worked and they were not intrusive to the event flow at all. They were great about making sure we were out of the venue by the deadline.
We chose a BBQ buffet for our reception, and everyone loved the food. We had a choice of three meats, beans, cornbread, watermelon, deviled eggs, salad, etc. They were also able to accomodate our four gluten-free guests, which was really important to me. I would recommend them without hesitation. They were willing to meet our needs, change the menu as needed and work within our guidelines -- all with a smile.
We could not have been more pleased with James and our photographs. We chose him because he offered an amazing value -- more included in the package at a MUCH better price than anyone else quoted me. He did an engagement shoot with us that we loved.
While shooting the engagement session and our wedding, he disappeared into the background and we hardly knew he was there. He has a very unassuming, easygoing personality that allows him to quietly capture real moments -- our photos never felt too posed or stiff. He captured some truly touching moments that most photographers would have missed, I am sure. He has an artistic flair, but also know how to capture people's true personalities on film -- which was exactly what we were looking for.
He does amazing work and I would recommend him to anyone looking for a more journalistic, unposed style.
Cupcakes and only cupcakes! They do one thing and they do it really well. Happy Cakes offers such fun flavors of cupcakes (we had chocolate, snickerdoodle and maple bacon at our wedding), and it creates a special and fun touch. Laura was great to work with - she really listened to what we wanted and was able to meet our needs. Also, they make gluten-free cupcakes! We had four gluten-free guests who were thrilled to be able to eat dessert at a wedding for a change.
The only slight negative would be flexibility. If you order a flavor that's not a flavor of the day, you have to order a minimum number. Also, the colors are pretty limited (but that didn't matter much to me).
