We used this venue for our reception, and it was very unique which we liked. The cost to rent the venue was quite acceptable. However, you CANNOT bring in any outside tables or chairs; you have to rent theirs and the chairs are old brown folding metal chairs - so you will need to pay for chair covers. When my family arrived to decorate that morning, the Fire Station was dirty...the floors had to be swept, kitchen & bathrooms had to be cloroxed, the refrigerator had to be cleaned and there were cigarette butts all over the ground outside. This was brought to the managers attention, who did nothing about it - my family had to clean it before they could even start decorating. (Also, you have to pay to run the a/c and the manager didnt turn it on until that morning...so it was SWELTERING inside - my family had to run out and buy portable fans to run until almost noon when the building finally cooled off). After the wedding, we received our deposit refund back, which was $110 short (no explanation was provided). When I inquired, the manager claimed the floors were dirty (our family swept the entire place before they left), the kitchen had to be cleaned (again..was cloroxed before they left), chairs had to be wiped down (they were ALL covered with chair covers the whole night?!?!), and 5 chairs had to be moved back into a room. The manager actually claimed in an e-mail to me that 'based on the decorations/linens/catering that we had for the reception, the $110 was a paltry amount that we should have no problem paying'. (The decorations were home made, linens were donated and my family did ALL of the food themselves). EXTREMELY RUDE!!!! He has been nothing but condescending to me and my family regarding any discussions about our deposit. MY ADVICE - If you do decide to rent the Fire House, I would highly recommend that you take extensive pictures before you go in (to document what it looked like when you took possession) and then be SURE to take plenty of pictures when you leave...because it will be your word against the managers, and I wouldnt be surprised if he does this to EVERYONE that rents the Fire House. PROCEED WITH EXTREME CAUTION.
AWESOME PHOTOGRAPHERS!!!!! Al & Carmen did our engagement, my bridal and photographed the wedding. They are extremely professional and very easy going! They made the whole process so easy! They arent the most inexpensive photographers around, but I will tell you that they are SO WORTH EVERY PENNY! After the wedding is over, you have your pictures to always remember, and Al Torres Photography will do an awesome job! I will definitely use him again in the future for baby and family photos!
WOW!!! Cakes by Gina did a fantastic job! I ordered the grooms cake from Gina, as a surprise, and it turned out great! I took several pictures of my husbands Jeep and e-mailed them to her. I even had to send her amended pix when he changed the Jeep before the wedding, and she completly updated it to look exactly like his Jeep! He was so floored and excited!! It looked exactly like his Jeep, down to the tiniest details!!! The cake was super tasty too! It was a bit pricey, but the effect it had on everyone, especially my husband, was well worth it!!!!!!!
