Northgate to the rescue. Our first venue canceled on us because of damages from hurricane Ike. We searched and I was about to settle when we came across Northgate. I instantly fell in love with that place. Not only the venue but the ceremony outside. It was definitely not in our budget but I had to have it. It was my dream wedding and I didn't care how many arms or legs were going to get cut off just for me to have this place. Not only was this place amazing, Lindsay was also amazing. She helped out so much, she was 100% involved and if I needed some kind of help at midnight...she would respond to her email or facebook ASAP. The food was amazing, they worked with us on a special menu. We didn't want the norm when it comes to wedding food. We wanted a spin off of latin food. They made it happen! The day of the rehearsal I was pretty bummed because it was going to pour the next day as well as the rest of the weekend. I wasn't too happy with plan b or c....I just didn't think that looked as beautiful as the outside ceremony. Lindsay once again came to my rescue. She offered the stairs as a ceremony site and I had to have it. The percentage of rain for the day of the wedding was 80 and Lindsay kept saying to keep our fingers crossed. I told her...rain or shine...I want it on the stairs. :) It poured all morning and when the ceremony started, it stopped raining...the rest of the night was clear as well as the rest of the weekend. Which means good luck to our marriage. :)
Bella Pictures was great, DRAGO was the best photographer you could have at a wedding. He knew when to be funny and serious. This company is very professional and I would recommend to anyone.
The only thing, which I'm sure it's not just them, is that I have to wait 28 days after the wedding to view my pictures. I want them now, I want to see what everyone was doing and having to wait sucks. I know everyone has to wait but c'mon us brides go months/years planning this day and we can't view pictures until a month later. There has to be something done about this. But, like I said, I know they aren't the only ones with a long waiting period. And I know my pictures will turn out amazing.
I recommend Elaina to any bride. She was amazing and the flowers were the best of the day. When I saw my bouqet, I wanted to cry. It was exactly how I had described to her. The reception looked great and the ceremony looked amazing. I liked the idea that she had. My colors were orange and apple green. Elaina suggested white and sage for the ceremony to make it look elegant and the bright colors for the reception. I am recommending her to everyone...a plus we had with her was that she lived in our set of neighborhoods so we would always meet up at Panera.
The cake is usually the most important thing to a guest. I am not much of a cake person but when I had a bite of Virginia's cakes.....I fell in love. After the wedding, everyone was talking about the cake..."it looked amazing", "it tasted wonderful", "the best wedding cake we have had in years"....the comments go on and on. The cool thing about Virginia is that she makes a honeymoon cake that tastes as wonderful as the wedding cake. In our case, it worked out wonderfully because we were so busy during the wedding that we didn't get to eat cake...well, only the bites you have for the pictures....so the honeymoon cake worked out great for us. If you live in Houston and you want the best tasting cake, you need to go to Virginia's Cakes. They are by far, the best in Houston!!!!
Where do I start? I shopped around all over Houston for THE dress. I went to the best of the best and was treated like a freaking queen. I don't live far from Panache and I thought, why not...I might find something there. I found a few dresses I thought might look good on me. I had no one helping me at first. Then, I was told that the big sizes were inside of fitting room. They didnt' have much but I knew I wasn't a plus size, if anything they made me feel horrible. I remember trying one dress on and saying I wanted something similar....the lady that was helping me by this time told me that she had just the dress. She went into the back and supposedly pulled out a dress still in a box. I tried it on and that was THE DRESS. I had my mom and mother-in-law check it out....they loved it. They both complained about the service but they loved the dress and the price. I bought the dress, vail, head piece, and bridesmaid dresses with them. My dress was turning yellow by the time of the wedding. My vail was as well, from what I understand...they colored the dress and veil in tea bags to make it look off white/ivory. The head piece cost me $100 and every time you would handle the thing, beads would fall off. My friend and I drove to Harwin and found the same head piece for $7. What a freaking rip off. My bridesmaids had issues with Panache when it came to their dresses and their payments. All in all, the worst place to buy a dress. Maybe they should stick to prom dresses! I do not recommend to a bride...maybe a senior in high school or a quincanera but never to a bride.

Jessica was recommended by a friend, she was very professional. My hair was elegant and done nicely. My makeup was flawless. My mom always ends up with old lady puffy hair...thanks to Jessica, she had in style, not so old looking hair. She looked beautiful! My maid of honor also had her hair and makeup done. She looked amazing, my MOH brought a picture of what she wanted her hair to look like, it looked better on her than the picture thanks to Jessica.
The only set back I had was the payment plan. I had a group of people that were unsure whether they wanted to do their hair and makeup with this company. Some said yes/no/maybe. The thing with Your Beautiful Face is that you have to tell them how many people will do their hair and make up and pay them in advance. It became an issue and the day before the wedding, while I am finally relaxing while getting pampered, I received a phone call from Your Beautiful Face. This woman got on my case about the money situation and I told her calmly that I would have that money if she would let me make a phone call. I just needed to get a credit card number from my parents. She insisted that I had signed a contract and I kept telling her that I would get that for her. My relaxing day was no more and I made sure to remember what she did so I could review her company. I had no bad experiences with Jessica, I would have Jessica do my hair as often as possible if she wasn't with this company. Maybe next time I'll think twice about recommendations from friends. Your Beautiful Face responded with the the following comments: We are happy that Snoangel1982 was happy with our hair and makeup services. Our contract states that services must be paid in full 30 days prior. As with any on location company, we need to know in advance how many services we will provide so we can allow adequate time and artists. We do not allow an indefinate amount of time for contracts that only list one person needing services. We were told that someone would be contacting us and making the payment that was due. After making repeated attempts to collect the payment days before, the contract still had not been paid in full and the customer had never called as promised to pay. Finally, the day before, we had to insist that it be paid in order to come and do our services. We always inform our customers verbally of our contracts and they also receive a copy at signing. If we had been paid when promised and when it was due, we would not have needed to bother our customer the day before the wedding. Please read contracts in full and know that they are binding.
