Kim Hansman, the wedding coordinator at the Annapolis Marriott, is amazing at her job! She was so much fun to work with and constantly looked out for our best interests, making suggestions without being overbearing, and listening to what we wanted for our wedding. The venue looked fantastic--there really is nothing else like it in Annapolis that will allow up to 250 guests without being held in a tent (believe me I did lots of looking). The food was fantastic, all of our guests raved and the serving staff was wonderful. I can't understand other reviewers criticisms of the food--I've been to my share of weddings and this food was a huge step up from others. I just can't say enough about Kim, the food, the location and the staff. The only negative is the parking situation--there is virtually no guaranteed parking. Just know that you should add in the expense of running a shuttle (we used school buses) from some other location if you book during the busy summer, Navy football games or boat show times. Once you get over that fact, you'll realize it's worth the inconvenience and extra cost. The only other negative is the cost of hotel rooms there. I wasn't as impressed with the hotel sales staff and thought that a required two night minimum with the 'discounted' cost of $299.00 plus lots of taxes a little crazy. We set up a wedding block at Springhill Suites in Parole for $139.00 + tax a night. When the wedding week rolled around the Marriott wasn't totally booked and they dropped the two night minimum and offered our wedding-discounted price to the guy on the street. Supply and demand, I guess! Several of our guests discovered this and changed their reservations. A pain for delivering (or re-delivering) guest bags!
When we booked our wedding you could add painkillers (the signature rum runner like drink) for only a buck per person more. The guests loved those. For decorations, we added paper Japanese lanterns (online purchase and some from Pier 1) and some Target bulb patio lights to the patio canopy and it looked extra beautiful. The weather cooperated and it was a beautiful night on the Annapolis Harbour. I was actually worried no one would come in and dance because they were enjoying the view from the patio so much! No worries, the dancing kicked in and everyone had a blast.
We couldn't be happier with Brian Ray Studios! From booking a specific package to actually seeing the proofs (only one week after the wedding!) and everything in between this vendor provided very responsive, prompt and professional service. We used Marilyn DeMarco for the entire event and, additionally, Piper for the ceremoney and some pre-wedding photography and found both photographers to be extremely talented and unobtrusive--just what we were looking for in photographers. Everyone is thrilled with the results. The joy (and some humor) of the day will be remembered well because of their work. Brian Ray Studios offers exceptional value for the dollar. I am happy to highly recommend them and will send business their way whenever I'm able!
Everyone was raving about my flowers from my and my bridesmaids' bouquets to the arrangements on the dinner tables and cocktail tables. Bill, Dawn, Sherry and everyone at Severna Florists seemed like family by the time my wedding day came. They were all so friendly and did a terrific job!
Jason Canaan of Absolute Entertainment was fantastic. Everyone was on the floor dancing and he followed our wishes completely--even when a friend tried to test him by asking for the Chicken Dance multiple times! Jason also suggested some fun--not raunchy--ways to make the evening more entertaining and was sensitive to our situation (a fairly recent loss of a father). Jason loves his work and it is apparent--he seemed to be having fun too! Everyone was asking for his business cards and we heard lots of compliments on our choice of dj.
Don't look further--just head over to Allison Barnhill Designs! We searched online and visited multiple local paper design stores looking for the perfect match. We actually used another local vendor for our save the dates--then we discoverd Allison at a bridal show and we were sold! She is so artistic and professional; she 'gets' what you're looking for immediately and is very willing to tweak designs until you're satisfied. Compared to others she offers great value for the dollar...and the best product. It became a joke in our family: every single person who commented on our invitations (and there were lots) used the word "gorgeous" to describe them. I loved the way we could do most of the consulting via e-mail after our initial meeting. It saved so much time and was stress-free. In the end, Allison did the invitations, the table numbers and the votive "placecard" for us--they were a dramatic hit! I highly, highly recommmend Allison Barnhill Designs!
