We just had our ceremony here, not the reception. The location is extremely beautiful, and we had so many compliments on our ceremony site. We used the GAR Rotunda for the ceremony. It is an expensive location, but a price I felt was worth it for the beauty. The service was average, nothing spectacular. But very dependable and solid.
Imaginative Studios creates great wedding photos. Our friends and family all loved our coffee table-style wedding albums, and two of our friends have booked Gina deConti (the owner) as their own wedding photographers.
However, more so than their quality products, I think Imaginative Studios real leg up other photographers is their customer service. Gina is such a wonderful person - sweet, calm, organized. I liked her immediately, and felt like I could trust her right away. While these qualities aren't what some may look for in a photographer, they are priceless on your wedding day when stress is high, the bridal party may be tired and hungry, or the weather may be uncomfortable. Gina really helped put everyone at ease during the photo session. She helped to create a relaxed and fun atmosphere rather than increasing the stress (as my husband and I have witnessed with other photographers when we've been in the bridal party at other weddings). This also helps to make everyone look better in the photos.
She and her assistant were completely unobtrusive during the ceremony and reception, so although we ended up with amazing photos, the wedding still felt intimate without cameras in your face at all times.
As for value for budget, we got an amazing deal due to an original miscommunication of wedding dates. Gina gave me a discount because she thought my wedding was a year earlier. When she found out the real date, she honored her price offer even though she could've easily booked someone else for twice the price. This really impressed me. So I definitely got a 5-star value for budget. However, their regular prices may be more than the average person wants to spend.
We originally wanted to book Audio West based on reviews of the owner. However, the owner was booked on our wedding date, so we had a different DJ. Since the owner got such rave reviews, we decided to trust his judgment with the people he hired. The price was right, they were dependable, and they played good music, therefore we're happy with their overall service. However, I didn't notice anything above average about them. I had some trouble getting a call back at the beginning, but it wasn't an issue since I booked them almost a year before my wedding date. Their online tools for song selection are very convenient. I was much happier with their service on our wedding day than I was after I watched our wedding video. Until then I didn't realize that the DJ butchered several of the names during the intros. That was after my sister had sounded things out for him phonetically. Overall though, they were reliable and solid, therefore I'd recommend them.
RDF was our favorite wedding vendor. Being a photo lover, I didn't think I wanted a pro videographer at all. But after seeing a friend's wedding highlight trailer, and then watching RDF's demo, I knew I had to have RDF for my wedding. They create wedding videos as you've never seen before - professionally assembled as a documentary rather than the typical cheesy wedding videos. A friend of ours from Baltimore saw their demo when they were visiting us in Chicago. She searched high and low for a videographer with similar talent in Baltimore, but came up with nothing. They loved RDF enough to fly them out to Baltimore for their wedding. All my friends and family agree that the video is the best keepsake for our wedding, and they all agree that they've never seen any wedding video like it.
I gave them only 4.5 stars for value for budget because they are pricey. They are more than most other videographers. I would say they are worth every penny, but I know some others may not want to spend that much on video. They are the only vendor that I actually wish I spent MORE money on. In order to cut costs, I decided to have them (as well as my photographer) leave before the dancing at the reception. It saved me about $600 in the long run, and that was a big deal when I was looking where to cut costs. However, looking back after watching our wonderful video, I really wish I had spent the extra money for those last couple hours of camera time in order to have captured our friends partying and our send off in the horse and carriage.
Lastly, I want to add that I don't give 5-star recommendations easily. RDF and one other vendor are the only ones I gave 5 stars in any category. I gave RDF 5 starts because they truly deserve it.
Tom is very nice and puts a lot of effort into personalizing your ceremony. Our ceremony was a bit non-traditional, which I think threw him off a bit during the planning. But he worked really hard to get things right, and he incorporated all our suggestions immediately. He really impressed me with the care he put into planning our ceremony, and the time he was willing to spend before the actual wedding day.

Andie Cumber was my makeup artist. Her work is amazing - the make up lasted til the end of the reception, it gave me and my bridesmaids a very glamorous look that still appeared natural and not overdone, it looked great in photos AND in person. Andie is a very fun person to work with, and helped to keep spirits up when we were getting ready even though things were stressful. They provide on-location makeup, so it was extremely convenient. Their prices are a bit more than the average make-up artist. I thought it was worth it for the final product, but it may not be as feasible for other brides who really need to cut costs.
