I absolutely loved working with Susan from Emery's. She was the most helpful and patient vendor with whom I worked. Instead of having a regular unity candle, we bought a vase and had it inscribed and it was supposed to be a floating candle. Well, during my move the week of the wedding it got cracked and I (naturally) panicked. Susan remained very calm and she didn't even mind when I requested that we switch colors in the unity candle arrangement to match the new candle we had to have. She truly was my saving grace and allowed for me to keep my head on straight! The bridesmaid flowers were so beautiful. They were simple hydrangeas and they came out beautifully. I was somewhat saddened by the fact that they couldn't get ivy for our centerpieces at the last minute, but they came out fine and we had a lot of compliments on the centerpieces in their Eiffel Tower vases so that was fantastic. The flowers all kept their color and life throughout the entire day with the exception of the unity candle arrangement, but I believe that was because they were not able to be water sourced. All in all, I was EXTREMELY happy with Emery's and I really recommend them!
I fell in love with Atlas the first time I went there and met Nicole. I went to a total of 8 other bridal stores just looking for the perfect dress, but all along I knew I wanted to buy it from Atlas. I ended up finding THE dress in Sandusky, so I called Atlas and asked if they could order it for me and they did. They kept it there until the wedding weekend and took care of my Mom's dress and my bridesmaid dresses as well. In addition, I ordered my girls each a shaw that Atlas made for them.
Their service is far superior to that of the other 7 places I went for dresses. They were patient and kind and sent cards in the mail to let you know what was going on or just to thank you for stopping in! I received a phone call two weeks before my bridesmaids' dresses were going to go up in price just to let me know so I could tell the girls to get their orders in before the change. The women who work there are always dressed to the nines and they are ready and willing to help out with any problems or questions you may have.
I did not like going dress shopping at certain chain stores that were pushy and rushed. I was very displeased with the fact that some stores would only allow for you to have three dresses out at a time in a cramped little dressing room. Nicole at Atlas would bring in as many dresses as I asked her to and she wouldn't mind at all. Plus Atlas has beautiful, large dressing rooms with reception lighting. I loved, Loved, LOVED working with Atlas. I can only hope that when I am a bridesmaid in other weddings that the dresses will be ordered through them as well!
I absolutely LOVED having Decorative Sound. I spent months researching everything from florists to cake, but when it came to the DJ I went SOLELY on the references from theknot.com and all of them were screaming "HIRE DECORATIVE SOUND!" We booked them after meeting Mike for about 45 minutes. Although they cost slightly more than some of the DJs in the area, they are WAY worth it. Mike really helped us pick the perfect music and keep things moving for our reception.
Our actual DJ, Rob, was fantastic. He handed me a water as soon as I got out of the limo and stepped foot into the reception hall. We had the best compliments about the dinner music and the dancing. The dinner music was a mix of my style and some of their classics and it was blended perfectly. During my Maid of Honor's toast which related to a song that she and I share together, Rob started playing the song ever so softly in the background and it just topped the whole thing off.
We had a wedding one month after ours and Mike was the DJ. Not only did he remember us, he remembered our "first dance" song and he played it for us. That meant so much to us.
I am so happy we worked with Mike and Rob and Decorative Sound. I know a lot of people say this, but we had more compliments about our DJ than anything else. They are worth every penny and more!!!!!
I loved working with The Birds and The Bees. They did marvelous work on my invitations! The only thing I was sort of upset about was the fact that there was a misprint on our envelopes. The printing company (NOT Birds and the Bees) messed up. Well, B&B said they threw away all of the envelopes that had the wrong address on them but they didn't. So my Mother and I addressed about 50 envelopes before noticing they were the wrong ones because we believed them when they told us they had thrown all the bad ones away. I guess that's our fault for not double-checking. Other than that ONE thing, everything was fabulous.

Although Shamas is sort of pricey, they have fabulous service and I really recommend them. You get treated like royalty when you are there! It's fun to be pampered!
I worked with both Jen (makeup) and Julie (hair). I really enjoy both of these ladies. They were very calm and cool under the pressure of our constant photography during the day of the wedding. On the day of the wedding, I decided to alter my hair style from what we had talked about during the trial and Julie was fine with that. She pulled off the look I was going for perfectly. Jenn kept me calm, made me laugh, and really seemed easy going when it came to the numerous interruptions that took place on the big day. She is also incredibly talented. Between the two of them, I felt and looked like a princess. :-)
