everyone at the loews was exceptionally professional and pleasant and they went out of their way to make sure every detail was exactly how we wanted it. courtney dubbin was our contact and she called all my vendors to make sure everything was on schedule and she oversaw everything personally. no request we had was too much trouble, everything we wanted they did. they thought of everything!
mike is awesome! we had such a good time with him! he took some amazing photographs of the whole wedding party, everyone looks fabulous in his photos. he really gets into the spirit of the wedding, it's clear he wants to be there with you, it's not just his job. he makes sure to get all the traditional shots everyone wants for posterity and then he sinks into the background, you enjoy your night and you never even know he's there. mike was also very understanding and flexible with the photography package, making sure i only got what i wanted and didn't have to pay for extra stuff that we weren't interested in. plus, we got the online proofs back from him before we even got home from the honeymoon! of course the high resolution quality proofs will take a little longer but we could start enjoying our photographs almost immediately. i have a couple other friends that got married recently and they were so jealous that i already had my proofs.
ashley is the best! she's so creative and she's very nice. she's very relaxed and calm, which makes it a pleasure to be around her in general but especially as a bride! things get crazy and she just rolls with it. i changed my mind a bunch and she basically took in all my ideas every time. the final product was a little bit from every idea i had come up with and my flowers were GORGEOUS! i wanted lots of green, jade green roses, green hydrangea, green hypericum berries, green simbidium orchids. they looked so good. she mixed in whites and pinks and my arrangements were awesome. she did submerged belles of ireland, in water filled cylinders, for our outdoor ceremony and it looked so uniquel. everyone was talking about what gorgeous flowers we had. we didn't do any other decorations, just the flowers, and everything was beautiful. plus, my bouquet brought me to tears, it was so pretty. ashley listens to what you have to say and adds in her creative knowledge to make the best finished product. she and her staff had everything set up on time and there were no problems at all on the wedding day. definitely use NOLA FLORA! NOLA-FLORA responded with the the following comments: Jen was a terrific bride with great creative ideas...We had so much fun! Now we are working together on her friend's wedding next spring!
fantastic cake! i wanted a cake that looked good but tasted amazing. i didn't want any of that waxy fondant icing. so i guess my cake was more the traditional route. they can do the fancy modern fondant stuff, but i of course recommend the regular wedding cake with fruit filling and their fluffy buttercream icing. it was to die for! not a slice left! my mother-in-law didn't even get a whole piece! everyone just inhaled it all.
and our groom's cake was so cute! and very very tasty. we had a fudge doberge cake which they decorated with golf items, little clubs and little golf balls, and a guy swinging his club.
they sit down with you when you come in and go over everything, show you pictures, let you taste all the fillings. i had to ask for the icing, but they gave me a big dollop to spread on the cake samples. very professional and patient. and very good value.
they also provide cake pulls that are very nice. they have sterling ones for a reasonable price. i went with cheaper, non-sterling ones that i bought somewhere else, but they would be worth it if you wanted to do the sterling ones.
the only thing i would say is to be careful not to get too small a cake. i wish we had gotten one that was a little bigger. that is of course because the cake is so good that everyone wants some! but they were perhaps a little conservative in how many people the cake would feed. maybe that's because the people cutting it were being too generous though!

the best! i went to several stores where i live (new orleans) before going to overland park where my family lives to shop for a dress. i was not treated very well at all in the stores in my town but the staff at nolte's was amazing. they were so sweet, squeezed me in at the last minute without an appointment, stayed after hours, showed me many many dresses. they have a bunch of different designers and then they have mr. nolte's dresses as well. i bought one of his and it is just the most amazing dress i have ever seen. he's so creative. and the dress was made just for me. it needed few alterations when i finally got it, and that was because i had lost some weight (yay!).
it did take 4 months to get it in, and that was quick for them. so don't special order a dress if you don't have time to wait. i had mine 4 months before my wedding so i was fine, and they guarantee you'll have something to wear on your wedding day, they'll make it work.
i also ordered my flower girl dress through nolte's and they were really helpful, making sure we knew how to do the sizing and getting all the information to the manufacturer. they told us it might up to 8 weeks to get the dress and it came in about 2!
a big thank you to ashley at nolte's she called me and kept in touch and made sure everything was going smoothly and that i was happy. i felt like a princess on my big day and alot of that has to do with the dress!
this is an online source for all sorts of paper products. they were very quick, it only took about 2.5 weeks for us to get everything. once we finally ordered. our invitations were awesome, everyone kept asking where we got them. you can enter all your text and see the proof of the invitation right there, immediately on your screen. they have many fonts and colors to choose from for printing and they even emailed me because they had a question about what i wanted the font to be. my invitation had two different fonts and i changed my mind about one of them, they were really flexible and we got exactly what we wanted. we originally decided to get our invitations online because the prices were so reasonable and i was pleasantly surprised to find that we didn't have to sacrifice good, personalized, customer service. very happy, would use again for other invitation needs.

celeste and her staff are really fantastic people. she enjoys what she does and she does it well. i had celeste do my makeup and all three of my bridesmaids. it's definitely a luxury, a little pricey, but WELL worth it on the day of. you feel like a rockstar! and my bridesmaids really looked like models. it was so fun and you feel so pampered. a fabulous splurge on your wedding day! and if you're paying all that money for a photographer and a videographer, you really should get yourself done up to take full advantage.
i had asked celeste to use the airbrush foundation makeup on me. we did a trial run about a month before the wedding. the foundation was kinda crumbly (she had warned me it didn't work on all skin types) and also my eyeliner was smudging. i called celeste and she was more than happy to do another trial run at no charge, used different foundation and eyeliner, and everything was perfect. she really wants her customers to be happy. you just have to tell her what's on your mind and she just magically fixes everything and makes you look like a moviestar! :o)

mr. brown has a lovely little salon up town, it has that old time beauty shop feel but he's got some really modern looking hair in his book of styles. he did my hair and my sister's hair on the day of my wedding and i was so so so happy. my sister has difficult hair and she looked like something out of a magazine! my hair was in an up-do with a big flower comb and my veil. he did such a nice job! he had done a trial run on me about a month before the wedding. i had some changes i wanted to make on the wedding day and he did exactly what i wanted. a really great guy with lots of experience and a very professional yet fun attitude.

i had my manicures and pedicures for myself and my bridesmaids the day before my wedding. the staff was very nice and the spa itself is beautiful. but they only had one nail technician. it took all day for the four of us to get through. i also think we could have had the same quality for less money at a different location. it was convenient though, because we were having the wedding at the hotel and we were all staying at the hotel.
